Catching a Red-eye right after the Wedding!

Brenda, on May 26, 2019 at 1:40 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 5
Hi all!! I’m new to wedding wire, and we are getting married August 31st! We booked a cruise flying from PHX to Miami and will be catching a red eye the night of our wedding. It’s through the cruise line and they haven’t released times yet so I’m not sure what time we will need to be at the airport. The cruise will be from Sept 1st to the 8th and it’s a 7 day western Caribbean cruise.

So!! I’m totally stressing because it was the only cruise that we could really leave on within our timeline. I’ve never done a red eye before so I need some help! Our wedding is currently from 4-10 but I’m thinking of moving it from 2-8 so we can have some time to unwind with guests before the flight. Our wedding is 6 hours so I just don’t know what the best time frame for our wedding is. I’m nervous we will be too exhausted to enjoy our cruise when we land, and we don’t port for a few hours after we land.

Does anyone have any advise or suggestions? I think it would be so fun to go to our honeymoon RIGHT after our wedding but I don’t get my night with my groom since it will be on a plane where we will be trying to catch some rest. I already booked the cruise so there is no changing it, and they won’t release any plane times for 60 days before our cruise... so in a month!! im so excited but nervous about all of this because I don’t know what to expect! We definitely want to spend time with our guests after the wedding, but it’s about us ultimately!!

I’ve never been on a cruise but I’ve taken a ton of red eye flights. They usually depart between 10pm and midnight. If your wedding goes until 10 you’ll be cutting it really close depending how close to the airport you are. They usually land around 5 or 6am.

I have been watching tips one cruises. Tip number 1 is do not get a flight get the same day as your cruise. If the flight is late or cancels that boat will leave with out you. And you are out of that money.

This to cause they say to be at the airport two hours early. To get past security.

Yeah, I'd shift my wedding earlier, and probably plan to have a car packed with all your luggage ready to take you straight to the airport. So plan to change before you leave the venue. If you can easily shift to the earlier time, it guarantees you can be at the airport by, what, 8:30, probably? If you end up with a 10 PM flight. If you have a midnight flight, you can relax a bit after the reception properly ends, maybe even go home and change. Depending on logistics. Take into consideration time to the airport, time to check bags and get through security, and if you're driving yourselves, time to park. If you're getting dropped off, that's much more efficient.

Yeah absolutely this. Honestly, I’d contact the cruise line and see if you can move your deposit to a different, later booking. We’re taking a Royal Caribbean cruise and I had to change the sailing date and they let me do that, although I did have to pay a fee.
