Skip it. Cash bars, in any form, are rude, confusing to the guests, slow down the bartenders and aren't necessary at all.

Oh sorry I should have been more clear, wine and beer is provided by the hotel. We are just paying for the wine and beer.

I'm still confused, but as long as the guests themselves do not have to pay for any of the alcohol they are drinking.. you're good.

If they get anything other than wine or beer, they will have to pay yes. We don't have drinkers in the family, those who drink, mostly drink wine and beer. So we are providing them

Just skip offering liquor and do open wine and beer. It's too confusing for your guest as you can see from the responses.

Probably gonna get hella backlash but that is what we're doing too. Providing all of the beer & wine. & even doing a champagne toast, but for those who want liquor they have to pay. Tacky rude whatever it has been done at every single wedding I have been to so it's expected with my family

Yeah, we are doing wine, beer, and toast for all. And hard liquor or shots etc, they can buy it themselves. I don't want make it unavailable if someone wants it

I would personally cut the liquor out and offer free beer and wine. I don't like the idea of guests having to take out their wallets at my wedding.

Just leave it at beer and wine. Your guests will be okay with that. Don't even make hard liquor an option.

Making guests pay for anything is rude and tacky. Have complimentary beer and wine only, or have an open bar/consumption bar that includes liquor. But do not make them open their wallets.

Nobody should ever pull out their wallet at your wedding for anything.

If you're paying for the beer and wine, then only offer the beer and wine. Your guests shouldn't have to open up their wallets at the reception when the reception is meant to thank them for coming to your wedding. If they'll be charged for the liquor, dint serve the liquor as an option.

I would only offer beer and wine. Don't let liquor be an option at all if you aren't paying for it

Well personally I think that's why it's a good option. Nobody HAS to pull out their wallet. But you're giving them an option still
