Casablanca - Custom Measurements?

minitwinkie, on September 18, 2016 at 5:16 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 5

Hi brides! Since I'm 3 sizes smaller in the bust and hips than in the waist, I'm thinking about ordering my Casablanca dress with custom measurements. Do any of you have experience with this? Did it turn out well? Was it worth doing instead of ordering the size according to your largest measurement and altering down? How much did it cost? Thanks!!!

I don't have mine back yet but I did custom measurements. I believe it was $180. I'm short so the salon suggested I do it just to save the hemming cost. I won't get it until November so I can't tell you how well it fits unfortunately.

I didn't get customer measurements or order a Casablanca dress but I did try some one and they ran extremely small. I have no idea about costs vs alterations but you definitely want the dress to fit perfectly. Even if you do the custom measuring you'll probably still have to get alterations done anyways

I'm a Casablanca bride and I chose to do both custom length (hollow to hem) and custom measurements for my bust, waist, and hips. I think it was worth it.

The hollow to hem was more expensive. It was a $200 add on to the cost of the dress. I was able to find the perfect shoes before ordering the dress, so they were able to measure me in the shoes I'll be wearing. When it arrived and I tried it on, the length of the dress was perfect! My dress has a lace overlay and a scalloped bottom. The alterations would have been miserable on that to get it hemmed had I not ordered it at the custom length. I've seen brides on here say that their alterations cost to hem their lace dresses was around $400. I think the length customization was probably a bargain compared to what I would have paid to get the dress hemmed.

My bridal boutique recommended the custom size based on my bust, waist, and hip measurements because my waist and hips measured between a 14 and a 16, and my bust measured a size 10. If I had ordered a normal size, I would have needed serious alterations on the upper part of my dress. Plus, it was only a $67 add on to get the custom size. I gained a couple pounds between ordering the dress and when it came in, so it was a bit tight when I tried it on, and wouldn't quite zip all the way (it was so close). I have amped up my exercise routine since then, so I should be able to fix the issue naturally. But even if I do require an adjustment in alterations, the dress is already proportionate to my figure, and I've been assured that either letting out a seam a bit or taking it in slightly is going to be really easy and inexpensive since the dress was already made to my proportions and is so close to fitting. My mom and I were hesitant to go with the custom sizing, until we found out the added cost was so low compared to the cost of the custom length. It was a really easy decision to make.

I ordered a Casablanca dress with the custom length because it came with the dress automatically. I was almost a perfect 6 save for my bust being a tad smaller, so we just ordered the 6, estimated alterations only around $200 at most. I think it'll work better just in case any measurements changed between the appt (August) and the wedding (January).
