Carnival cruise wedding?

Rachael, on December 28, 2016 at 7:50 PM Posted in Planning 0 27

I've been looking into getting married on carnival cruise. Its all inclusive and you can have up to 50 guest on the ship and following, cruise honeymoon. Has anyone had a wedding on carnival cruise? What was your experience?

I looked into this in the beginning of the planning stages. There were a couple reasons we picked not to go that route but here's my thought. Myself, my family and my FHs family all run our own business. While I was ok with being gone for a week I didn't want to determine the length of vacation my guest had to take. If you live next to a port it's a little different but we weren't close. I also didn't care for how cookie cutter everything was. It wasnt as customizable as I wanted. Some girls on here have done it and love it. It may be for you. There definitely was some appealing aspects to it. We are doing a DW wedding instead.

I've never been to one, but honestly if I was going on vacation for that long I wouldn't want to spend it with so many family members and friends. I think the wedding could be beautiful, but as a guest you're stuck on the ship once the wedding is over. I love cruises don't get me wrong, but I just wouldn't want to spend it with so many other people I know.

I think it's more of a know your crowd type thing. If your family and friends or whoever you invite would be ok with that then I say go for it

I've been on cruises where there were weddings happening. It all looks so fun to have your friends and family cruise with you. FH and I considered it during the early phase of planning. We didn't mind the idea of having everyone there with us, as the ship is big enough to hardly run into them if you don't want to. If you do want, then you have plenty of people to have a great time with. What I love is that you can choose to get married before the ship leaves, or on the beach of one of the ports you visit. The only reason Fh and I opted not to was the fact that certain people, like my grandparents, wouldn't be able to go and it's very important to me that they are there at my wedding.

I am getting married on a carnival cruise february 2017. The whole process has been a huge headache as you cannot just work with one person/team to have arrangements. You must do everything separately through the wedding, group, and general booking areas and no one provides accurate info. For the amount of $$ being spent by 50+ guests I would expect a bit more accommodations. Hopefully the actual day turns out beautiful and makes the hassle somewhat worth it. Hope this helps!

You can also have the wedding on the cruise while it's still in port so that if guests don't want to go on the cruise, they can get off the boat after the wedding, before departing!

Yeah id decline a wedding on a cruise ship. That's alot of money, time away from work, and what not for me.

I'd worry some people wouldn't come because they're afraid of getting seasick.

We love cruises & seriously considered doing it. The thing that kept us from it was the photographers on board you have to use. Most that have done it absolutely recommend it though. It is supposedly fairly stress free & if you chose to book through s travel agent, they could handle all the bookings of the other guests attending so you don't have to deal with that.

I'm doing a wedding with carnival and there are pros and cons. I'll start with the cons. My biggest con is that they really don't accommodate any type of customizations or changes (even if you would pay more for them). I don't like that everyone has to show up dressed to a port wedding, I don't like that it's technically not a designated photographer for the day so they aren't necessarily going to get all the pics you want when you're getting ready etc and their photography is expensive for what you are getting. This particularly annoyed me because they made it seem in the beginning that the photographer would come early to do pics of my bridal party and now they changed their tune. I don't like that they offered my guests no discounts for coming unless you did all the work under their group bookings within a 2 week period. I also feel like their prices increased and when you actually think about what you are getting (a cocktail hour (or 1.5) reception - it's a lot per person). Now I knew these things going into it mostly but I share it so you know.

On to the pros: I love how little I have to do to plan it. It's very easy.

I like that you can pick a short cruise so your guests don't have to be off many days from work. I like that you can have non sailing guests at a port wedding. I like that you get more time with your guests for the length of the cruise.

Lately I guess I've been feeling a bit disappointed with some of my experiences with carnival so that's probably impacting my comments but I do think the wedding will be really nice and fun! And I can't really say for sure how I'll feel overall until I have the wedding.

We were married on 11.11.2016 on a Carnival Cruise and I can't imagine a more perfect wedding for us. It's a personal decision, I guess. There are some boards on other sites that have great reviews and helpful tips from previous cruise brides. (My own review is on one of those sites.) Reading the reviews and watching videos online of other cruise weddings truly helped us make the decision to do the same. We had 50 guests travel with us. I never wanted a huge wedding with 200-300 people so this was perfect for our purposes. It felt like a 3 day long reception because we got to spend quality time with loved ones who traveled from far and near. Of course everyone could not travel but our friends and family were very understanding and supported us getting married the way that we wanted. I had a bridal shower a month before so many were able to help celebrate even though they weren't at the wedding. I should say that we actually did not get married while on the ship. We were married on the beach in Nassau during the second day of the cruise but the reception was held back on the boat. Romantic, intimate, memorable, and the most fun!

I don't know the rules/guidelines of this website or else I would have given a specific link to the other site and my review with pictures.

I booked my wedding on Carnival Liberty in October and I'm sooo glad I did! Before October it was about $500 cheaper, but now everything is separate....the reception....the alcohol....everything. The only thing I'm worried about is that my guests have to arrive at 10am, but the wedding is not until 1pm. What are they going to do in between?

We're doing a Vow Renewal on Carnival Sensation. I can agree with the fact that you're not able to customize much. The packages are pretty generic! Photography is also very expensive!! All and all I'm excited and think it will be a great experience. We are traveling with 50 of our family and friends, so that will be fun in itself!! I can't wait!!!

Bumping this because my fiancé and I just booked our cruise wedding for next year. Any tips on selecting a color scheme for those who have already been through the experience of a cruise wedding? Also, aside from the price how did you like the photos? Also, I hate how they've separated everything for the reception. You definitely got more with the old pricing/plans.

I am having my wedding on the carnival cruise in Feb of 2018, A 5 day cruise wedding. So far the only headache is helping the broke and single people with rooms. So for those who have had cruise weddings, what is your advice on the planning portion? What are the pros and cons of the ceremony and reception decorations? Is the cake good? I'm not doing food at reception because they have free food on the boat. We are only doing cake, beverages and music. I'm not paying for food when they have food for an army on the upper decks ( free of charge). My mom did it on a cruise too but she got married on the ship. We are getting married on the beach on one of the islands. I think having my family on the cruise will be great because I'm super family oriented, but if I get sick of them, I will go with my man to a different activity. ??

My mom had it at the port of New Orleans, and we were the first to board with our bridesmaid dresses on. She had her makeup and hair done but no dress on for obvious reasons. We then boarded the ship, touched up our make up and she got married in the "chapel". Our grandfather as the officiant and my sis as a groomsmen. We had 50 + people at the ?? wedding. The ceremony wad short, sweet and simple. They got married through the court in June and got married on the ship in September in front of everyone. After the ceremony we went to one of the lounges and had the reception. The reception was beverages, cake and dancing (DJ) for only 1.5 hours. It was a lot of fun. Afterward, some changed and some didn't to dine on the ship and then we went club hopping on the cruise. I was told enough to drink yet at the time, but I still had a blast.

I want to send out STD’s but we’re kind of having a hard time figuring out who to invite because we are limited to 50 NON-sailing guests..we had our guest list figured out before we knew this, and it was around 90 people. We’d like to invite as many as we can out of that 90, but I know we won’t have 40 people sailing with us..but we also may not know for a while how many will end up deciding they want to (or can) go on the cruise.
