Carnival Cruise Lines - gifts through US customs

Has anyone got or is getting married on a cruise? How do gifts work? Carnival said that US customs doesn't allow wedding gifts to come through - is that accurate? They told me gifts in envelopes are fine though. Just want to know in case guests ask. I just want to be informed.

Love these pics and the ones on your page! I remember when the gangway was hit... some excitment there. That is the one negative about a cruise wedding is that all types of things could cause delays or cancellations. In Tampa Im most worried about fog

@Alyssachu awwww thank you so much.

@SailawaySomppi Yeah... I was beside myself. We were supposed to board at 11 am. We didn't board until 1:30. Our wedding was still a fairytale though, to me. If a little hectic.

@lorith - one more question if you don't mind! I posted an outline of what to expect on our wedding page but I feel like people don't take the time to read through those - did you have a problem with guests not coming dressed for the wedding when they were getting on the boat or bring surprised that it was an app and open bar reception for only 90 minutes?

No no problem at all. Our wedding website is still there if you want to see how I put up our info. We had 25 guests attend. Most of whom cruised (15 including us) and everyone was made aware on the invites and on our website. Also, since it was primarily family, we talked a lot anyway and it was easier to communicate things pretty well.

@lorith thanks! We have quite a few guests sailing so I'm thinking an insert in the wedding invitation will be the way to go in case they don't read the site.
