Carnival Cruise line wedding registry?

Christine, on November 2, 2010 at 12:47 PM Posted in Planning 0 17

Hi i was wondering if anyone out there has used the registry for carnival cruise lines? We are getting married March 26 our cruise leaves the 27th. I lost my job last Monday. Its been a hard year my sister passed unexpectlingly in January while my niece was at a school but my 5 yr old at the time nephew was with her. Oct 2nd my step mother passed away. Then i loose my job. So that cancelled the photographer. I have my dress, all the flowers for ceremony. Half paid on flowers for set up and decor, paid 1/3 or more of venue, half of the cruise, we have the cake cutter and stuff like that and my dress, and head piece.

I was thinking of trying to put the cruise on a registry so we dont have to worry about that issue also. We have to take a trip to the mid west for thanksgiving to see my dad who is all alone now, to scatter my step moms ashes. SO money needless to say isnt there.

Why not set up a honeyfund? You will get cash deposited to you, which you could (technically) use for whatever you need. I'm guessing that something though the cruiseline could only be used to things there, and may have some fees associated.

Check out www.honeyfund.com. It's free, you just pay the paypal fees.

I have to agree with Analy. I understand you want to go on a cruise, but if the registry doesn't pay for everything, then you are forced to come up with more cash.

And about your job- good thing that the holiday season is coming up! You can find something at least part time for the next few months!

I have one set up, but I can't tell you how much I like it yet because I have yet to have any donations lol. I'm not sure how it works on the giving side.

Are there family members on your side or FH side that you can help you with this? Perhaps your MOH can spread the word and maybe instead of them getting you gifts they can pitch in and help?

His family has no money at all. I have paid for most of the wedding so far. It is an out of state wedding for everyone except his immediate family since we live here and they live in New England.

Wow...perhaps you can call the cruise line to see if you change the date?

If you get married on a cruise it can cost $1600 including everything (except the actual cruise) i mean music, flowers, food, open bar, set up, clean up, etc. If you talk to carnival they have different wedding packages.

We cant change the date since it is a 7 day cruise leaving the day after. We have already paid half of the venue so we cant change it. Plus there is a limit to guests. My family and half of his is in another state flying down. We can afford right now to pay off everything. I just was wondering about the extras on the cruise like the off shore stuff mainly.

Oh! We're doing the Western Carribean, also. We leave out of Tampa, though. Where all is your cruise taking you? Sometimes they differ.

After I read this post yesterday I got excited and did a little research on what the best excursions are, so that I could add those to the registry, as most aren't listed when you make the registry. Then I went on the registry and added my own. I know all the gifts go towards Fun Ship dollars to use how we want, but I feel like people will feel like they're not just giving money if they know what it's going towards.

Giggles that is what i thought too. I was just wondering if they charge you a fee up front or anything? We are going on the Valor ship, were going to Cayman Islands, Honduras and Mexico and back to Miami.

That is why i wanted to set up the registry, We live together so we dont need house stuff really, cash is nice, but helping pay for that stuff is even better.

Nope, no fee! I think there are some honeyfund websties that take a percentage out of the gifts or something, I'm not sure. But from what I understand, all gifts are ours in full.

Exactly! We live together also, and while new towels would be nice, we really don't need them. I'm considering just getting rid of my Target registry and having the Carnival registry only. I figure we would much rather enjoy our honeymoon without stressing over money than getting household items.

Sounds like we're going to the same places! FS and I are going to Cozumel (Mexico), Isla Roatan (Honduras), Grand Cayman, and Belize. You'll have to let me know how it is!

That is the same one we are taking, what ship are you on? I just signed up for ourwishingwell.com for our registry. It is just a cash option but it goes towards what you want to say it is. I put honeymoon stuff, and cash, and some other stuff. Im sure the Fiance will play around with it when he gets home.
