Caricature Artist

IronMaiden, on August 15, 2017 at 7:11 PM Posted in Planning 0 9

Has anyone had a caricature artist at their wedding, planning on having one, or been to a wedding with one?

My FH and I went to the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk for his birthday this last weekend and got one done and it was SO much fun and such a great keepsake! We decided against splurging on a photo booth for our wedding because we are already having lawn games and our photographer herself was a huge splurge. But I thought as a compromise, a caricature artist could be really fun & kind of unique (I think?) . It's half the price of a photo booth and interactive.

Thoughts?!

Please and thank you!

I would do this for cocktail hour only if you do it at all.

These seem really gimmicky to me and keep people off the dance floor.

These entertainers were cool on the sweet 16/bar mitzvah circuit. But now that I'm an adult not so much.

We are doing caricature artists. One black & white and one in color. Planning to have the B&W tablehop during dinner so no one has to stand in line.

That's a great idea MandM! The one I contacted said he takes a break during dinner (assuming the period of time you hire him for includes dinner) and draws the wedding party table.

My sister just had one at her wedding in July. Everyone loved it and it worked as her favors too. Lots of compliments. Hers was available the whole evening except during dinner.

We hired them from 6-9 cocktail is 6-7 and dinner starts at 7:15 or so. Never thought about drawing the wedding party table. Good idea! But you just have to make sure you're there too or you won't be in it. That would worry me a bit.

That's awesome, Sarah! The one I found has a 3 hour minimum, and said most couples do 3-4 hours. We figured around 3.5 hours. It takes him an average of 3 minutes for an individual and an average of 5 minutes for couples. So I feel like for our size wedding, people could probably get drawn multiple times in 3 hours.

He also can do it digitally, so that the bride & groom can have a copy of everyone's drawings. It doesn't change the price, but it does change his average drawing time to 5-10 minutes.
