Caricature artist: yes or no?

Josie, on August 15, 2018 at 2:14 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 12
So right now we have a phot booth booked for 2 hours during our reception (6-8pm)

i just found a company thay does caricatures (1 artist) for $75 per hour! I personally love them. I’m thinking of “renting” them out for either cocktail hour or a couple hours in the evening time with the photo booth.

Does this his seem like too much? I have overdone w yard games and stuff, along with the photo booth, because I’m afraid people will be bored.

I love caricatures and I love for people to have things to take home for memories.

What do do you guys think?

By bored I mean people won’t dance and stuff. The ceremony is 4:45-5pm. Dinner is at 6pm. The wedding is until 9pm, or possibly 10pm.

If you are already providing plenty of food and alcohol and you still have room in your budget for this, then go for it. It sounds like a lot of fun. But don't worry about people being bored. As long as you have a great DJ or band and an open bar then people won't be bored. I have found that people usually relax and let loose at weddings.

Unfortunately we don’t have an open liquor bar, only wine and beer. Fortunately there is only a few people who drink anyway, because a lot of our family members are recovered alcoholics.

We cant have liquor due to vendor rules 🤪 but we Deffo have great food!

I don't think people will be bored as long as you have a DJ people normally dance a lot at weddings. But I would love the artist! I would 100% take advantage of that! I looked into one for us but it was out of budget!

I’m just afraid of having “too much” goin on, ya know? And we are having a small wedding, 42 ppl, and a lot of them are older-ish and my biggest fear is people won’t dance!!

Ooooh this sounds so fun! If you have the budget to swing it I think it would be awesome. Certainly, not required but, a really fun extra for your guests. Plus, these could double as your favors if you wanted.

That was what I was thinking! I’ve already spent ridiculous money to make little favor boxes with name brand candy and an “a sweet ending to a new beginning” sticker. I wish I thought of this first!

I don't think it's too much! What a fun favor for people, but no one is forced to use it. I'd do it!

Oh, I just have to say I had 40 guests, most of them were my age or older (I'm 41) and we had a live band that they danced to all night. If they enjoy the music, they will dance! We wanted our band to play a lot of swing/big band, motown/funk and 50's/60's music so I think that helped with the older crowd.

If it’s in your budget I say go for it! Even if you only have 42 ppl, the average caricature are does in between 8-12 per hour from what I’ve seen online. That w/ the photobooth should keep guests more than entertained.

Ahhh I wish I knew about caricature artists for my wedding as I would have hired for a cocktail hour in addition to our photo booth but I didn't know about them then so we only had a photo booth.
