Caricature Artist as Entertainment for Cocktail Hour

Hello All,

I am planning on hiring a caricature artist for our cocktail hour for 140 guests for 1.5hours. I know he will not be able to do everyone... but the main purpose is just for entertainment and to have something to do for those who are interested. There will be a fair bit of older guests (50+) who I don't think would be interested so it is mainly the younger crowd which is about 65 people and I think there will be alot of group pics done. The cost is $110 which is pretty cheap for an extra bit of unique fun in my opinion.

We will also be having a photobooth open after dinner for about 4.5 hours.

We will have separate wedding favors as well.

We would've had him longer but we do not want people lining up outside at his table the entire time.

Please let me know your thoughts, should I continue with the idea or not?

Go for it. Any activity beyond basic socializing is niche to any group and some people will be all for it while it won’t be someone else’s tastes and that’s ok. Whether that is lawn games, photo booth, temporary tattoos and so on. If you feel this will appeal to a group of guests, then do it.

That's a great idea! One of my friends did this with two artists and the line at one point to get the pictures done was probably 15-20 people deep, which definitely took away from cocktail hour and dancing after dinner but you've already thought about that. We have it hanging up in our house because we loved it so much, it's such a unique idea!
I think some people will be disappointed they don't get one, but you have so many other things to compensate and entertain I think you'll be fine!
