Cards/monetary gift for bridal shower!? What?

Lol guys... I went to a good friends Bridal shower today. I knew very few people since she invited a couple people from our work, so a majority of the people I didn’t know. anyways! There were at least 10 cards with gift cards or monetary gifts. There even was a card box there! It was so awkward...

anyways! There were at least 10 cards with gift cards or monetary gifts. There even was a card box there! It was so awkward watching her open those up. She was so polite about everything.

Is this the new norm? I was just blown away and wanted to consult the experts. Any shower I’ve been to there has been at most two card only gifts.

    Yes! Well my family has been in America since the early 1900s, so about 6 generations! So we are pretty modern compared to other Indian families. Just wedding registries haven’t caught on yet. My generation has definitely been using registries though! The last 3 weddings in my families have had them, but the older family members still would rather give money or gift cards!
