Cards getting stolen

I'm seeing a lot of people that have locks on their cars boxes or people who have had their cards stolen. I wasn't planning on putting a lock on my box and if I did, I feel like someone could just pick the lock anyway. Are you putting a lock on yours? Mine will be in a foyer just outside of the main...

Mine will be in a foyer just outside of the main reception area so I feel like there will be a lot of people around most of the time so it might deter people from stealing..not sure what to do.

Maybe I am overthinking this but I can't help it with all of these discussions I'm seeing! it never even crossed my mind. I'm not concerned with my guests, just people I don't know wondering around the venue such as the wait staff, etc

Our wedding coordinator is taking the box while we are eating dinner and locking it within the bridal suite. But I agree with PP, do not leave it near an exit as someone could just walk away with the entire box!

Yeah planning to have ours on a little table right by the sweetheart table lol. Petty Betty that night but I've heard horror stories of family (close, older family) stealing cards and just am not having that.

I like the glitter idea, then you can know if it was someone who didn't have any right to be in the box touches it.

My venue coordinator is going to have our card box locked up in her office after cocktail hour and she would be a "hostess" at the gift table; she pretty much made a solemn vow it would happen so things wouldn't be stolen lol

I've heard anecdotes of this recently too, unfortunately. We're putting ours behind the sweetheart table & cake. Going to wrap a big cardboard box like a big present with ribbon to help make it obvious :o

My card box is being put right at my sweetheart table in front of myself and the groom so it's never out of anyone's site. It will for sure have a lock. There's nothing tacky about that because unfortunately, though rare, it does happen! I'm not going to allow that to happen to us. So I'm ordering a white lock off amazon to match the box. Our box is all white with lace so it will just blend in.

I also know a couple that actually nailed there's into the table (they provided the table) and had it locked. So there was no stealing possible and they just unlocked it at the end of the night, took out the cards, and disposed of the box and table. I mean that's extreme, but if you're this worried could be an option.

Thankfully I feel like we are at low risk for our card box getting stolen since

    1. Our venue staff handles catering as well, so less staff

    2. Ceremony and reception are in the same room, so there will always be people around .

I think I will still have someone greet guests and keep an eye on gift table.
