Card or Magnets

Blair, on November 11, 2019 at 10:59 AM Posted in Planning 1 25

Did you choose cards or magnets for your save the dates? I'm leaning more towards magnets but that extra 30 cents adds up quick.

We did magnets. We liked magnets because people can stick them to their fridge and don't have to worry about loosing them. Paper ones are easier to misplace.

I got magnets from Ann’s bridal bargains. I think it was $38 for 50 with shipping and the coupon.

You are right. I believe I'll go ahead and do magnets as well.

We chose cards! I didn't want to worry about them getting stuck to any mailboxes or if they might be too heavy for a regular stamp. Plus most people have magnets on their fridge already, so they could still put us up there if they wanted to Smiley smile

We chose cards as well. I didn't want to pay more for postage.

We did magnets and love them! We got a coupon from Vistaprint for ours (though you may even find some Black Friday deals if you can wait until then). No issues with the magnets sticking to mailboxes (though I did add a piece of card stock behind them to prevent this) and we only needed one Forever stamp to mail them.

We did magnets through Vista Print. They were wonderful and definitely worth the cost.

I really wanted magnets. But they are more expensive than cards, and the postage will be more, because they are heavier than cards.

Then my photographer threw in 100 STD cards as part of our package, so I couldn't pass that up. We have the cards now. I realized later that if I had chosen a magnet, I wouldn't have been able to fit as many pictures on our STD. So, I'm glad it worked out that way.

We got magnets and did not have to pay extra for postage. We got them from Vistaprint (who always has sales and coupon codes), and you can design them to use as many or little pictures as you want. If it’s out of your budget, I suggest getting a roll of magnet tape to put on the back of your cards so people can still put them up on their fridge. I just think that if they’re not up where you can see them, they will get lost and thrown out.

Right now we budgeted for two sided postcards, addressed by the stationary shop. Depending on the cost, we might make it one sided and do an envelope so they don’t get damaged in the mail.

We'll be doing a postcard designed by FH and printed at our local print shop. We live in a college town and he's still in grad school, we were going to use his student discount. Also, with the postcards we aren't having to buy envelops and will be doing a postcard stamp rather than the forever stamp to help save some money.

I’m doing both - magnets for family & wedding party and regular cards for the rest.

Cards. Personally, I keep save the dates in our mail basket, and wouldn’t use a magnet. They get thrown away at the end anyway.

If you're willing to pay the extra 0.30 for each, I think magnets are super cute!
