Card Boxes

Oh my gosh. Card boxes are so expensive! We thought we were just going to use the one provided by the venue by I want something that locks and something that can scooped up at the end of the night rather fumbling through the box to get everything. What are you doing? DIY? Etsy? Something else?

I bought a wooden one from Hobby Lobby for about $15 and then bought a $10 luggage lock and hardware, attached it, and covered the lock with some ribbon and a bow I glued on.

I bought one of those photo storage boxes. Velcroed the lid shut and cut a hole in the top. It wasnt the fanciest box, but it wasn’t expensive and it worked. (It didn’t look bad it just wasn’t fancy). If you got a plain one you could spruce it up a bit.

I got ours on clearance at Walmart for $4, then I wrapped it with ribbon so it can't be opened without being unwrapped/fishing the cards out. It was just a white box so the rest is ribbon and gemstones.

I got an inexpensive one at TJ Maxx for about $20. It doesn't lock, but you have to move pins in the back to open it up so it's more than just a quick "slight of hand" to steal anything. Do keep in mind most card boxes aren't all that heavy. If you are worried about theft a lock is not going to matter if someone just walks off with the box itself.

Thanks everyone. I actually found a keepsake box that will double as a card box.

I bought a $20 terrarium from Ikea and I found a vendor on Etsy that sells acrylic panels that has a card slot that can be swapped in the terrarium. We have a friend that makes custom decals that we'll put on with our initials and wedding date. Total cost for our DIY card box: $35!Card Boxes 3

I’ve seen some inexpensive card boxes at Walmart, Hobby Lobby, Michaels, Amazon, Marshalls, etc. I know a lot of people who have also gotten customized boxes done on Etsy. I’m personally going to rent mine from my venue (mostly because it is secured to the table/locked up)! Good luck!

I bought a cheap cardboard one!

^ this was a lot cheaper when i got it years ago.

but if you go searching around for cardboard ones like these, they can be really cheap.

another thing is maybe you can just buy something that can be your keepsake box after - that way you won't think of it as one time use

I found a really pretty box shaped like a house at TJMAXX. It was $7 lol. I'm thinking of returning it though because I'm not sure how many cards it will hold, but I'll def. be going the same route to save money!
