Card Box

Kris, on September 24, 2020 at 11:35 AM Posted in Planning 0 9

How are you all securing your card boxes so they don't get stolen??? Mine is just cardboard, so I'm thinking I'm going to hotglue the top down so it's more difficult to open, but I don't know if that's enough. I don't think any of our guests would steal it, but I want to be sure.

From what I’ve heard it’s not usually guests you have to worry about but sometimes people working the wedding unfortunately. Nonetheless, my venue told me to designate a guest to be responsible for it- essentially towards the end of the cocktail hour, take the box and go lock it in their car and get it back from them at the end of the night or the next day. I plan to ask one of my aunts to do this for our wedding.

I used one of those cardboard photo storage boxes. I Velcroed the lid on. I got the Velcro from dollar general and it is honestly the strongest Velcro I’ve ever seen. If anyone would have tried to get in there they would have really made a scene 😊

I had a bridesmaid the entire time sIt at guest sign in table so when it felt like they were enough guests to start the reception we took the card box and we had a relative who did not leave their table at all watch it

I wasn't aware this was a thing? I've attended many weddings and parties where there was an open basket and no one ran off with anything. But also cash gifts are not done in those circles.

Be selective of who is invited. It's not a guest's responsibility to guard it.

We will keep ours next to someone who we trust. For the minimony we don’t have to worry about it because it’ll only be about 35 people (all family and close friends) but for the big wedding that’s when we will have someone “watch” it

I got a wooden box for that reason and put a little luggage lock on it and covered that with some ribbon. It's not usually so much the guests, but sometimes staff.

I'm not sure what our box is going to be, but might have my dad make one and figure out some way to keep it secure that is not so obvious. If we don't have a box made I will ask a family member to take it back to my room after a certain time

We entirely forgot about a card box, the venue just put out a basket with a napkin, and gave us the cards in a bag at the end of the night.

Talk to your venue coordinator, they deal with this all the time.

I have been weirdly stressed about this, too! Like.. Way more than a normal person 🙈😂 Probably due to reading too many horror stories, my anxiety, and my father was an addict and addiction has a strong hold.

I was thinking of getting a wooden box that is locked shut or even glued so you'd have to destroy it to get it open (which is find by me because I don't foresee myself keeping that kind of thing!)
