Card Box Alternatives

Angela, on October 12, 2016 at 3:04 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 37

I'd like to have something other than a regular card box displayed for guests to put their cards in. I would like something that's contained and "safe". I've searched a little for a birdcage and found this on etsy, but it's $200. What are some different ideas you have?

I actually saw tons of "alternative" options at places like TJMaxx/Marshalls. We found ours at Marshalls - it's one of those glass terrariums where the top opens and can latch closed. There are also really pretty wooden boxes, memory boxes, etc. that you can use - I've even seen birdcages there.

Awesome, I'll definitely look around those stores! I've found great deals on thank you notes at Home Goods

They have ones on etsy that look like a wishing well and others that look like an unopened wrapped present. We will most likely do either of those.

Me and FH are funeral directors... I bought a cardboard coffin on amazon. Spray painted it white. Going to put a small bunch of flowers on top, cut a slit on the lid and I bought a sign that says Cards from Michaels that I'll put on top too.

But that's a very customized box hahah

Check out TJ Maxx/Ross/Marshalls/Home Goods. My old roommate found several card boxes there, it cracked me up. She'd find one on one trip, buy it, then find another one our next trip. She must have bought and returned 4 or 5 before she found her dream box, and it didn't cost her more than $15 Smiley smile

I was thinking of doing a mailbox with a decal that has our last name & street address and after the wedding put it on our post outside of our house. We need a new one badly, lol.

I got a glass terrarium from homegoods for $12 that I plan on using as a card box. Right now it's part of our dining room table centerpiece

I bought a mailbox from someone on NextDoor (eBay was also a possibility) for $12 and gave it a fresh coat of paint.
