Carbon Fiber Rings?

Taylor, on June 3, 2017 at 9:33 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 7

Hi all! My FH is looking at carbon fiber rings and I can't find too many reviews on them? Do any of you have them? What do you think? Otherwise, we're thinking maybe we can get him a silicon ring. TIA!

My FH bought a carbon fiber ring for his wedding band. He absolutely loves it the look and that's mostly what he cares about!

I can't say whether they're durable or not, but I personally think they look better than silicone. My advice is to make sure the inside of the ring is curved for comfort, especially if it's plated in silver. Some of the rings my FH tried on sort of dug into his skin when he was trying them on.

eta--he doesn't wear it all the time because we haven't gotten married yet, but he's worn it a few times just to see how he liked it

Yeah, my FH was interested in them because they were lightweight. He does a lot of hard labor and builds his racecar engine, so I'm not sure which would be better. I'm concerned about the carbon fiber ring being durable enough for his day to day

Also check out titanium ones. They are supposed to be extremely durable (at least more durable than tungsten).

Fun fact on titanium rings....a good friend of the family was in an accident and cut his fingers almost clear off. The medics were letting him know they were going to cut his ring off to try and save that finger. Him being a salty war dog, he popped off to the medics with a joke and bet them money that they couldn't. Lmfao he retells that story now so often at family gatherings and keeps telling my fiance to get a titanium ring instead.

I prefer tungsten. It is very durable and scratch resistant. It is also able to be broken (crushed) off in case of an emergency, unlike titanium.

We are looking at tungsten and carbon fiber. Also, I learned that at Zales (probably other places too) when you buy the warranty pkg for $49.99, not only does it cover damage, if he gains or loses weight and it no longer fits, they order a new one. Since these materials cannot be sized like gold.

My other half has a tungsten ring. He works on boats and does nerdy IT work and it is still scratchless after a year.
