Car Service or Uber XL??

Chyna, on June 5, 2017 at 6:15 PM Posted in Planning 0 7

I've been looking into car services to take my bridal party from the hotel to the venue. The two places are literally 3.7 miles apart. I wanted to get two SUV's that seat 6 passengers. One for my bridesmaids and myself and another SUV for my FH and his groomsmen. The car service wants to charge $159 for a one way transfer for one SUV. I think that's outrageous. So I started looking into an UberXL. (Which is an upgraded Uber SUV car service.) Literally $21 a trip there. Who can give me advice for car services? What should I do?

I use Uber daily and UberXL all the time. I've never had a bad experience with Uber. Depending on the city you're located, you can even pre-schedule uber rides so you and you're FH could each reserve an XL for the time to make sure there are cars for you!

Uber is great and that's what I'll be using. I can't think of any safety, practicality etc. concerns for a big group of 6 - if anything - I've more often had car services late than UBER due to the latter's business model.

I don't know your area, but here in Houston the Uber XL is a more scarcer car. They don't let you schedule it ahead of time (at least not here but I thought they do in other areas). I would worry about the reliability.

I agree it depends on where you are. We are in Chicago and I will be using uber for this exact reason. I'd honestly rather rent a car and that would still be a savings

Seems like a no-brainer. Uber it.

Uber is a great idea! Just give yourself a little wiggle room with timing and save yourself a lot of money! I'll probably steal this idea! Smiley smile

Hi! curious if you went this route or not? i'm highly considering this as well. A limousine company just gave me an outrageous quote for 2 cars to only drop us off at the venue (over $1,000) for a 20 min ride. I was thinking to do 2 uber XL's there and back. Our wedding venue and chapel are all in one location.
