Cape that turns into veil?

Felicia, on June 14, 2022 at 4:00 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 6
Hi all! I’m having a dress with cape, but i still want veil (mainly blusher) so that the groom can lift the blusher during ceremony. I’m still not sure what type of veil that matches with my dress cause i’m afraid it’ll be too crowded. I don’t want to have a hood cape. So I have an idea to turn the cape forward (covering my face) during ceremony. Then, when the groom removes it, it’ll fall backwards and turns into cape dramatically. Has anyone done this before? It sounds weird in my head but it might just saves me $$$ for veil lol

Hmm yes I can see what you mean about the fact that a veil may be too much/take away from the cape detail of your dress.

Do you have access to your dress/can you try it on again in the shop? It would be worth trying it with the cape forward and snapping some pictures from front/back/sides to see how you feel about it and then make a decision from there

That’s a very interesting idea! I’m not sure turning this cape forward would work though. There’s a huge hole in the middle (to show off the back) that would go right over your head and shoulders, and in essence create a giant bib lol
The only way to avoid that would be to fold the Cape in a half and drape it over your face, but I think that would just create a big mess in the back.
I think the only way to make this idea work would be to have a custom made cape, or have a seamstress modify it to fit your vision. But, I have a feeling that would result in the ”hood” appearance you were trying to avoid.

I think my biggest worries and concerns would be the weight of the cape on your head and face, let alone with it flipped forward I don't see how you would be able to comfortably and easily walk down the aisle like that. Plus all the applique pieces/details on your cape would not be visible with it flipped over your face.

Never heard of this but I do think it is in deed possible. However I worry that the cape would be too long face forward.

First of all your dress and cape are stunning! I agree with the other posters I can't see how pulling the cape forward would work. Seems like it would be very heavy that way. Maybe try on little blushers or birdcage veils and see how that looks with the dress. Something like this and then just take it off at the end of the aisle . Personally though I d skip it that cape is fantastic as it. Good luck to you.

I'd suggest looking for blusher veils or veils that are shoulder or elbow length that could be placed in front of your face and then flipped over. The veil-to-cape idea sounds neat, but I'm just not sure how to logistically accomplish that.
