Can't think of any good songs for background music while guests are waiting for the ceremony. What's yours?

lovebean, on July 15, 2014 at 11:36 PM Posted in Planning 0 25

I want to have some kind of music playing before the processional music starts. I was thinking something instrumental maybe? Just so it isn't complete silence until the wedding party starts coming in. What did you choose?

Will you have an organist? If so, have him or her play during that time.

No organ or piano. It is not taking place in a church. We have an audio system and speakers.

I just made a CD of love songs about an hour long to play before the ceremony from different genres and decades. Here are some of the song I chose.

    I'll Be - Edwin McCain

I'm Falling Even More in Love with You - Lifehouse

Keeper of the Stars - Tracey Bird

All of Me - John Legend

Can't Help Falling in Love with You - Elvis Presley

As Long As You Love Me - Backstreet Boys

Waiting for a Girl Like You - Foreigner

There are so many good songs you can play that people will love.

We're doing completely instrumental music for our prelude. We actually chose music from the Harry Potter soundtracks. It was one of our ways to incorporate it without it being too obvious.

I like the idea of instrumental movie soundtrack music though I am not familiar with the music from Harry Potter. Anyone have other favorites? The ones I know tend to be dramatic and dark and I don't want to be all gloomy before the ceremony. Ha. :-)

We are having a string folk trio and I'm letting them choose what instrumental songs to play. Less for me to decide, hahaha. Smiley smile

We had a very classy / elegant feel to our wedding. Pre-ceremony, the guests all heard Vitamin String Quartet playing I told our DJ to keep as romantic as possible and he played stuff from their Valentines Day CD. Our moms were seated to strings, our wedding party walked in to strings, I walked in to strings as well.

We're also going mostly classical/acoustic, but may have some sarah brightman and that type of music.

We haven't totally nailed it down but definitely instrumental. Want to hear something amazing? Listen to I Gotta Feeling - full orchestra and Viva La Vida so good.

Someone posted that they hired the Stringspace String Quartet yesterday, and I FELL IN LOVE WITH THEM. I decided I am gonna download their music to play before the ceremony!! I am usually not a classical music person, but LOVE new songs with the classical sound.

We will have a pianist for the ceremony, and solo piano for probably half an hour beforehand. As a musician and someone who notices music, I can say...it will be awkwardly obvious if you do not have background music for the prelude. I highly recommend it.

We are doing this on repeat. There is actually a 60 minute version.

We let the DJ handle it. I have no idea what was played. I assume at least one DMB song as they were only allowed pre-ceremony, during cocktail hour, or dinner.

I am doing all songs, about 30 minutes worth, by Shane Lee. I "found" him over two years ago on Youtube as a "nobody" while doing a search for Jason Aldean cover songs & he now has two records out & a band too. I'm flying him (& his wife) from GA to WI to surprise my FH. He will sing his song Lets See How It Ends (live) when I walk down the aisle.
