Can’t decide on a Ceremony start time

Richaelyn, on February 1, 2021 at 7:37 PM Posted in Planning 0 12
I’m having a summer Friday evening wedding in August 2021. I can’t decide on starting the ceremony at 6:30pm, 7pm or 7:30pm. The ceremony & reception are at the same place and we’ll be skipping cocktail hour to go right into dinner since, it’ll already be kind of late. Evening Traffic time in Houston,Texas is about 5pm-6pm. If we start at 7, it’ll end around 11:30pm. If we start at 7:30pm, it’ll end around midnight or 12:30. Let me know which time y’all think is best for a friday night.

    Here’s a better breakdown:
    - 6:30pm, dinner @7:30, ends around 11pm- 7:00pm, dinner @8, ends around 11:30pm- 7:30pm, dinner @8:30, ends around midnight

I think starting at 7 would be a good middle ground, but it really depends on if you have a lot of younger guests that like to stay out a little later or if you have guests that like to be in their bed by 10. Also I'm asumming you're doing a first look since you don't have a cocktail hour to take pictures during?

I think 7:00 ceremony and dinner at 8:00 ending and 11 would be good. Just for those who have to work that day have a little extra time to get ready and head out and hopefully not run into rush hour

Yes, correct. I was thinking the same about having it at 7.

I think 7 pm would be the best time. That way your guests have time to get out of work go home and get ready for the wedding.

6:30, I’d be hungry! Or 7, but I wouldn’t push it to 7:30, that’s just getting late especially if I worked all day or have to drive a bit to get home.

7 sounds good to me! And at least people will know the start time ahead of time and can plan accordingly food wise

I think 7 is a good start time. Especially considering traffic

7-12 is not that long. Can you move the ceremony up to 6:30?

7pm should be the latest start time.

I say the earlier the better, I say that because if you want to get any outdoor pics keep in mind the sundown. 6:30/7 seems perfect.
