Can't decide between two photographers

Elizabeth, on March 13, 2018 at 10:10 AM Posted in Planning 0 11
I've been looking at photographers, and obviously we want to hire someone who is good, but we're also on a budget so my fiancé is insistent that we keep it under $2000, which can be difficult if you're looking for quality work. I found 2 photographers that I like who are both under $2000:

Photographer A would cost $1800
Photographer B would cost $1300

So here's where I need some opinions. I think Photographer A does better work, but I still like Photographer B. Is it worth the extra $500 (if I can convince my fiancé lol)? Your wedding photos are obviously super special and we all want them to look as perfect as possible. What would YOU do?

ALSO: Photographer A only has one shooter, whereas Photographer B would have 2, so that's worth taking into account as well.

I believe they would both offer 8 hours of coverage (wedding prep, ceremony, and reception), digital copies of all photos and the rights. But Photographer A only has one shooter, whereas Photographer B would include a second shooter.

I would go with the less expensive (especially because it includes a second shooter). I like both photographer's styles.

I would ask to see full galleries of weddings they’ve done and choose the one that beat fits your style. IMO, $1300 for 8 hours of 2 photographers is VERY cheap, maybe almost too cheap.

I personal like photographer B style better. That is definitely who I would pick. But it is really up to you. If you like photographer A better I say it is worth spending the extra money.

We are spending just over 3,000 for our photographer. It is her, a second shooter, and 9 hours of coverage. We actually spent a little more on the photographer that we choose then another one that we were thinking about.

I was undecided between two photographers, but what cinched the deal for me was having two shooters for the ceremony so that one will be capturing FH's face when I start down the aisle, and another will be taking photos of mine. Those are the shots I think I'm most excited about.

$1300 for 8 hours sounds like a bargain, but so much of pricing is regional. It's not so cheap it's worrisome depending on your area.

Have you met with these photographers yet? Because personality plays a huge part as well. You need to like the person that will basically be shadowing you on your wedding day.

I think Photographer A does a much better job of photo editing and creating a consistent style. Having 2 photographers is an amazing perk (mine does) but it feels kind of off that it's so inexpensive. What are their reviews like?

I would see what has the better package and where you get the most bang for your buck

Just looking at the details provided on this thread - my mom is a photographer and will tell you it is VERY important to have a second shooter. Not only will you be guaranteed to capture all the important moments, but you will have two vantage points of them. Also worst case if someone gets sick then you still have a photographer that you're familiar with.
