Can't decide a date for our wedding...

Gina, on July 23, 2016 at 12:48 AM Posted in Planning 0 12

My fiancé and I just got engaged not too long but I already want to start planning our wedding! Not sure if I want a summer wedding, fall wedding or winter wonderland wedding. Anyone wanna throw some ideas at me?

We found a venue to fit our guest list and budget first. Then we found out their down times and how much we would save. We booked the very last Saturday of their down season and saved almost $2k by doing that. Start with a budget and a guest list, then find a venue and pick a date.

As someone planning a summer wedding, I can definitely say that you will save money and have a better choice of vendors if you do it in late autumn or winter.

Agreed, off season is cheaper, plus autumn has the best colors in my opinion Smiley winking

Wedding season is different depending on your area so make sure you know when it is for you.

Yea off seasons are different everywhere. I'm in Phoenix and it was 114° the other day. Weddings in the summer are cheaper out there. They go up and down depending on the month, and sometimes the venue. You really need to ask the venues what they're off seasons are if you want to go that route.

You can pick a date that's important to you (FH and I chose our anniversary date) or check what sales venues you like have.

Shop around regarding venues --- also, on Sundays or even Thursday evenings you can save $ --- most importantly, make the wedding about the two of you!

You don't have a date until you have a venue! And a budget always comes before anything. Try figuring out the where you want to get married then maybe that'll help the when. Some places look better in summer, some better in winter. Off season is always cheaper.

Go ahead and start looking at venues, and see what they have available (and their pricing) before you decide on a season that may be more expensive and/or more difficult to book vendors.

September might be a good month because it's the beginning of off season but still warm outside. That way you could either in or outdoor venue and not really worry about weather. You'll save money having an off season wedding too.
