I think kegs are cheaper but cans are more efficient. Our DOC advised against kegs, since they foam and usually give less beer than you think but I've heard from others that a good bar tender will prevent the foaming in the keg. Either way, we are doing bottles because they look better and are easier for the guests (and will hopefully spill less easily) than a glass of beer. Our venue also doesn't provide glassware and we didn't want to buy the proper glasses for 150 guests for beer so bottles were a lot less maintenance.

I think you can get like 150 beers out of a keg. But I'm not sure the exact price of a keg though

I would think a keg is more economical as well as environmental friendly!

We are doing cans because you can keep or resell cans that aren’t opened. You can’t do that with a keg after it’s tapped. Everywhere around me makes you pay for the whole keg even if you don’t finish it.

Hi Myriah! If your venue allows it, I would try to get kegs, especially for the amount of guests you have! Unless your guests have a wide range of beer taste, then maybe I would opt for cans so that there are more choices!

Agree with this. You get a full can/bottle of beer versus half a glass of foam.

Also to think about.. it's harder to take a keg home and finish it than it is cases of beer. Some places even let you return unopened alcohol for a refund. Kegs usually go to waste because no one wants to deal with them after the fact. Bottles/cans are your best bet.

How many bartenders do you have? To keep lines down, I highly suggest cans or bottles instead of kegs. It's much quicker for them to pop a top off a bottle of beer than to deal with the keg all night. Plus, you can have more options if you get bottles vs. a keg

Well I was team keg, but I think you ladies changed my mind on bottled beer. Definitely more options, no upkeep, get a drink quicker, and getting to take home the extras!!

I think kegs would be better just as far as affordability and clean up go --- Kegs are often cheaper (at least where I'm from) Also, you'll have to supply a lot of extra recycling bins/trash cans around the venue because they'll fill up quick with all those cans/bottles! If you figure you have 200 guests who like to drink and they all have 3+ beers on average, that's 600 empty bottles/cans that you have to find a place for!
