  I did clear plastic ones I got off dollar tree! Because it was just cheaper that way aha but if you want the glass ones you could keep them for use after too

  You could always look at thrift stores for cheap glass bowls/containers if you prefer that look, and if they are open in your area and you feel comfortable doing so.

  I would say glass because they are sturdier and would be less likely to tip over

  I'd do plastic. Oriental Trading has a huge candy bar selection of candies in every color and cute containers for them.

  I would do glass just for the formality of it, but plastic is definitely cheaper.
