Got a bunch of guests who don’t eat candy outside of special occasions coming and I wanted to give something that won’t get totally wasted. I bought mini hand sanitizers from Bath and Body Works (the good kind that don’t smell like cheap tequila), but my mom said that wasn’t a very good favor. Any...

Lots of options for noncandy, but still useful/practical/cute favors!

Little scented candles and soaps are popular favors. I've also seen little glass bottles of things like honey, bbq sauce. maple syrup, speciality oils (like nice olive oils, truffle oil, etc). You could also do something related to the theme of the event (for example, ornament favors for a wedding near christmas).

Our theme is the aquarium, so we bought blue/beach themed hand sanitizer.

I think hand sanitizers are a great idea especially with the pandemic, however unless it's edible most people won't take them home if you don't want to do a favor you don't have too.

We ended up doing the hand sanitizers and there were only a handful left.

We had discussed that, but decided it would be too divisive with his family’s tendency toward extremism when it comes to Covid-19. We ultimately went with the hand sanitizer and there was very little left.

Some ideas: chapstick, honey, cookies, spices, teas, coffee, pickles, maple syrup, face masks (for a destination wedding), cocktail kits, liquor. But also mini hand sanitizer is a good favor.
