Candy Buffet?

Amber, on June 9, 2017 at 8:21 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 17

I'm thinking of having a candy buffet instead of favors. Has anyone else done this or seen it done? If I do it will people be eating the candy through out the night or do they just go bag some up on their way out?

We had one. Everyone at the wedding loved it but we did buy way to much candy on top of our cupcakes.

I actually never thought of ending up with a lot of extra candy leftover!!! That's making me reconsider lol

I think candy buffets are way too much of a hassle unless you are paying a vendor to do one for you. Prices were anywhere between $500-$1500 when I was searching, but we ultimately decided to just do a chocolate fountain because we were worried about people leaving the candy behind.

We had a candy buffet and added cookies and other snacks. There were little bags to take the stuff. This wasn't our favor but just something J wanted so my dil made it happen.

We didn't have much left at all. Love Oriental Trading and Amazon!

Like Nonna, we did have a candy table but not as wedding favours. People only grabbed at the end of the evening (we didn't have kids there, or it might have been a different story). Most of the leftover candy, we donated to a children's home.

We got these plastic buckets from O.T. along with the stickers.

I wanted something easy for the DOC to set up and I didn't want to be hauling stuff home at the end of the night.

We're doing one. The candy we mostly purchased from Sutherlands. I got the glass containers and plastic platters from the 99 cent & more store. I made our signs and banner. All together I spent less than $100. It can be done you just have to be patient. I'll take pictures of course. I also used this picture as inspiration.

We are doing one. They are done at most weddings I go to. People usually make a bag to go and may eat on it throughout the night. I am doing this in addition to favors. It is a good idea to do this in lieu of favors though since its edible. Just make sure you dont buy to much candy.

There was another thread on this yesterday that had a lot of helpful advice if you can find it!

We had one! Spent around $120 on it and all the candy was gone by the end of the night! I figured $120 for 90 people was cheaper than a lot of other favors we could do and H really wanted one Smiley smile

I saw people going up to it at and putting together a bag various times during the reception!

I have not done this but my brother did this at their wedding! It was a huge hit and some ppl hit up the bar in the beginning and other packed a to go bag. Either way I think it's awesome!

We had one, and I think when and whether guests use it depends on where the buffet is located. If it is near the desserts or the dance floor people will likely eat throughout, if it is near the exit people may just take them at the end. We had little blue and white striped paper bags stamped with our little wedding logo thing so people could grab and go. It was pretty popular, though I waaaaaaaaay over ordered so I had a lot of leftovers too Smiley smile

ETA we placed our candy buffet near the dance floor for guests to enjoy throughout, and we had different wedding favors placed on each place setting.

If I had a buttload of left over candy I would be so happy... but then again I just love candy.

You have to remember that not everyone can eat or likes candy. It's not a very universal favor.

IMHO, candy buffets are for kid's parties, Bar/Bat Mitzvahs and Sweet 16s. Plus, like the photo booth, it's overdone. If you are compelled to do a favor (totally unnecessary) , I do feel an edible is the only way to go but just not candy, or at least the kind of candy you get at a candy bar.

I've seen it a gazillion times, and I'm over it. Trendy, and it's time has come and gone. For that matter, I feel like that about any type of "bar." Right up there with mason jars and the photo booth. Not to say you can't give out an edible favor-like truffles or really high quality chocolate. (Like Vosgages).
