Candlelight send off?

Kat, on November 7, 2018 at 8:58 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 2

So, we are having a no-children wedding. It was a tough decision, but FH comes from a large family, and the reality was that if we invited children, 20% of our guests would be under 5 years old. Not our ideal dream wedding! So - no kids. Our next move was to set an end time and have a distinct "send off" to ask people to stay for so they're not rushing home to the babysitter.

We picked 10pm ending time (ceremony is at 4, so it'll be long enough, I think!) and want do do a candle light send off - it's been rolling around in my mind since we learned our venue allows open flames (we will do it inside the ballroom and probably have people surround us for one last dance, and then make a tunnel out the door for us.

Have you done a candle light send off? If so, did you use those little cups to catch drips? How did you organize it? Would love to hear your experience / see pictures / get your feedback and tips, please!

I think if you're going to have a candlelight send off, then you should definitely have the wax collectors on them. Nobody wants wax on their hands or their nice wedding clothes. Smiley atonished

Do you plan on having a wedding planner or DOC? This is the perfect sort of thing to put them in charge of. They can hand out the candles, light them, tell your DJ/emcee to get everyone's attention, and organize them for your walk out. Or you could put the cnadles at place settings and have a family member go around and light the candles if you're not having a DOC or planner.
