Candle options

Elizabeth, on October 24, 2022 at 10:22 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 4
Hello brides! My wedding decor theme is candles to give all the romantic, mood lighting vibes. However candles can get pretty expensive….does anybody have any tips on how to do candles cheaply? Has anyone used cheap drinking glasses for floating candles?

We have gotten a good amount of votives off Facebook marketplace. Now we are needing some pillar candles for windows, taper candle holders, and also some glasses for floating candles.

I recommend IKEA for pillar candles and Dollar Tree for floating candle glasses (which can also be used for the pillar candles) - this was the cheapest combo I found for my wedding!

I recommend checking out Michael's and other craft stores AFTER the holidays. I found fabulous sales on large candles in mid and late January.

Also, check out second hand stores (such as Goodwill) to see if you can find cheap glass pillars or surrounds. Dollar stores are also a good place to look for glasses and vases.

Dollar Tree. Check em out. I got 96 candle holders for $96. 48 of which are white or black with sparkles and 48 are clear 3 different height tea light holders. Also check out places like Oriental Trading etc for bulk orders. I'm getting candles for my black and white candle holders from there because you can buy a bunch on the cheaper side.

Not specifically on candles, but you could try placing your candle centerpieces on a mirror base which will add even more reflection and glow. Some venues offer to lend these out for their guests. Also, if you use mercury glass holders, you can get away with battery operated candles as well.
