Candle Centerpieces

Kimberly, on October 6, 2017 at 9:42 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 12

We are planning to purchase our own pillar candles and glass vases for our centerpieces at the recommendation of our florist. She will then decorate around them with greenery. We have a pretty tight decor budget and I'm interested in opinions on 2 pillar candles vs 3. From what I see online, most centerpieces have 3 candles of different heights...but I'm considering only doing 2 and maybe putting the table number card as the third item to "balance" it. Doing this would save us roughly $50. It doesn't sound like a lot, but I'm learning everything in wedding planning is "just another $50."

Will having the 2 candles only look tacky do you think? Like we cheaped out? Or will no one honestly even notice...

Any and all input is appreciated!

Honestly nobody is going to remember the centerpieces but you. I think the two candles and a table number will look fine. Smiley smile

I think it would look fine with the table number to balance. You can always try setting up different version at home to see what you like better and then if you decide you need to have more you can just purchase more.

The reason there are usually 3 is because when decorating you work with odd numbers 1, 3, or 5 as a general rule it looks much better.

A set of 3 is going to be more pleasing to the eye; even with the table number as your third item (depending on the size relative to the candles), it still may look a little off. If you must use 2, I would recommend doing one taller and one shorter candle to add some visual interest.

I suggest doing mock up centerpieces at home. Also price out the candles at different places. IKEA has candles for fairly inexpensive.

I would do 3 if you can swing it. The vases are only $1 at dollar tree and you can elevate one on almost anything (or use E6000 glue to add a stem from a crystal candlestick-also $1),

For candles try Yummi Candles, Candles4Less, Ikea, and of course the Dollar store.

I also suggest doing a mock up. I would think it would look ok though. Double check that your venue allows pillar candles. Mine doesn't Smiley sad

I second Rosered. Most venues don't allow open flames, such as pillars and tapers.

Three would be better, but will your guests notice or really care all that much?
