Candian postage for rsvp

Kristina, on March 26, 2017 at 1:16 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 14

So I have 2 invites going to Canada and need postage for the rsvp. I have tried to find out how to get the two stamps I need for them to mail them back to the US. My post office has no info and the only place online I saw only mails to Candian addresses.

Anyone know how to get these stamps?

If I am offering online rsvps do I absolutely have to have them?

You need international postage. Your local post office or USPS can tell you how much. It's not that expensive for Canada

IMO I think they could probably mail it back on their own dime... it's just a stamp.

I've got the opposite problem. (sending a couple to the US from Canada) and the post office told me to let them deal with it when they send it back. I know it's a big no no to have ppl pay for stamps, but they literally won't give me one lol

If it's just a couple of people, I'd send them a quick text apologizing for no stamp and explaining to them the reason you couldn't include one. Tell them they can text you your RSVP, which they probably would end up doing anyway, if you read all the RSVP threads on here lol

You need international postage. Our stamps are a dollar each, unless you buy a roll of a hundred, then they are $85.

I have the same situation- I have 2 Canadian friends I'm sending invites to. I'm setting theirs aside unsealed and will be mailing them separately at the post office, where they will help me put the proper postage on the invite and reply envelopes.

If they only mail them to Canadian addresses then just send them to the guests address and let them know they'll be receiving stamps in the mail soon to send the RSVP's back.

You can't get the postage. International RSVPs will need to be without a stamp - nothing wrong with that. I sent two guests living in the U.K. and DR and I did not put a stamp on it. It's fine.

Really Gymmie, you can't get Canadian stamps in the States? Interesting?

We can get American postage up here for letters and parcels, and international stamps for other countries to send back.

Hmmm...I could be wrong Jessie. You're the Canadian expert lol. I will defer to you! ;-)

It's interesting though...my Canadian cousin didn't provide postage for the invite she sent me. Either she didn't provide it to all of her guests, or just not our U.S. family. Maybe she was a bad host. Whoops!

Jessie is correct, we can order US stamps here, by the time I realized this, it was too late to order as I had already put my invites together. I had 3 invites that went to the US and I just gave them the heads up.

I just put postage on rsvp envelopes yesterday and was looking up information about this. I was an idiot and put US international stamps on 9 rsvp envelopes before realizing that wouldn't work. Luckily I was able to slowly peel them off and reuse them for the actual invitation envelopes. I have 3 going to Canada, 3 to Australia, and 1 each to Italy, Kenya, and Malaysia. I ended up just leaving out the rsvp card altogether. I have an insert with my wedding website info and will have and rsvp option there.

Since you only have 2 invites going to Canada, I wouldn't worry about it much. You can just call them to see if they're coming.

@jessie ... when I looked at the Canadian postage site I saw you guys can get US postage but no way for us to get Canadian postage to send back to the US.

@faith... I thought of that but they won't send just one stamp to each address and not gonna spend the money for a whole roll for each household.

Well... seems to be the consensus to just leave the stamps off...

Unless @ chelsea... wants to trade yo some US global for some canadian international... lol.
