Candelabra ideas

Courtney, on March 3, 2015 at 5:15 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 17

Hello Ladies,

I am doing my centerpieces myself, and I will only be using red roses. How many roses do you think I should use to get a full look? I'm not looking for anything astronomically huge. I was thinking 40 roses should be enough? But I'm not sure. (The candelabra has a small hole (to fit a candle) ).

Typically a candelabra holds 3 candles. But the holes are shallow and will not typically support flower stems.

It depends on how big the Candelabra is. It could be 10, it could be 40, it could be 100.

What sort of look are you trying to achieve? I originally wanted half candelabra's half floral centerpieces but they're so damn expensive!

But of course it doesn't have to be that big, I'm also contemplating, half candelabras and half floral centerpieces. I found a place here where I live where I can rent nice silver candelabras for only $15 ea. :-)

Very pretty and elegant. I think that size you could get away with 40 roses give or take.

Does anyone know how to get the roses to stay on top of the candelabras since the holes are typically not deep enough for stems?

This DIY rose ball is made with 24 roses and a Styrofoam ball, you could probably play around with something like that!

Here's something from a DIY site for the rose ball (as seen above)

Directions for making with silk flowers:

Pull the roses off the stems or use a wire cutter to remove -leaving a 1/4" on each. Using a toothpick make a hole in the Styrofoam ball for each rose bud you are attaching. Then fill with a dot of hot glue - place the rose in hole. Let dry. Continue adding roses until the ball is filled.

You can insert a few leaves between the roses for added color.

    Directions for fresh flowers

You will doing the same as above but instead of a Styrofoam ball use an Oasis foam ball for fresh flowers. Also instead of using hot glue to hold your flowers in place use greening pins instead.

I'm not giving up on my candelabra inspiration though, I'll just have to do a lot more shopping around

These are the candelabras I am using. I am afraid the holes will be too small to use foam to stick my roses in :-(

I will have 20 tables. As a Plan B, I was also thinking about decorating 10 tables with candelabras (candles only) and the other 10 tables with a tall silver vase and red roses? Do you ladies think that will be too much (I'm not talking about money, but looks wise).

    This is the vase.

Try floral oasis or a floral cage, if you have a Michael's near you try and see if they have it there or you can buy it online

What you posted is a vase candelabra. The center is not for a candle. You could maybe achieve it by talking with a florist about the Styrofoam balls that roses are pegged into perhaps.

Are you referring to my first picture with the branches or the last picture with the silver vase and wide opening?
