Kres, on June 12, 2021 at 3:24 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 9

Did anyone cancel their covid wedding and still have to pay their vendors in full?

I didn't have to pay my vendors in full if I cancelled with them, I just lost the deposits

I think it really depends on your contract. Some vendors will return everything except the deposit, others still require full payment in the event of a cancellation.

I was refunded my initial deposits for the cancelled covid wedding. It was only the venue though.

Depends on contract, who did the cancellation, how many times the wedding was canceled/moved prior to final cancellation, and how close to the wedding date this cancellation is happening.
What is your situation given the above information?

I would consult with an attorney if they are requiring full payments for cancelling

Actually a legal group I’m on has several people stating that vendors cannot withhold or require full payment for services not rendered. I would consult Sm attorney.

Perhaps enough of services were rendered; holding a total of 3 dates, lost income on all 3 due to reschedule/cancellation, creation of playlists, if creative usage fees were paid for particular songs, time accumulated, etc. Depends on the contract and the variables in that state. Not to mention the op stated she canceled her wedding (and vendors) because “wedding planning just wasn’t fun anymore” (in her other post). I’m curious if that statement will be in her favor or the dj’s.

Some of the services may have been rendered but again…not All of the contracted services were.

I would consult an attorney and put aside the judgements and opinions of WW members to find out what is legal. Good luck!
