Canceling wedding, no refund or able to move date

Maritza, on December 30, 2019 at 10:38 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 12
So my fiancé and I found out we are pregnant and it’s actually further down than expected. Due to that we decided to cancel the wedding, however we moved the date twice thinking we can pull this through but we just can’t. That being said there was two contracts in place one in June and the recent one for this March. We contacted the owner and ask if we can move the date and we were told no because a new policy was set in place when we signed the new contract. I know we should have read the second contract more fondly but when we went to resign with her she told us that everything had stayed the same. Trusting her word we signed. I don’t know what to do at this point. The wedding is here in March and the last thing I want is to rush myself into it because it’s more forced now due to the contract. I don’t find the contract switch professional it should have been run through with us if changes were made. What do y’all think? I’ve attached the old contract and the newest. Maybe it's best to continue with the wedding in March, it's pretty soon so I would assume that money has been paid toward the venue? When did you tell your guests the wedding way? If you're not too far along I would think it would be okay to still go forward with the wedding especially if you've made significant payments to your vendors! It's a tricky situation

I think it’s shady business practice, but you signed it, there’s nothing you can do. You either cancel and lose the deposits or figure out how to make it work by March.

Yes we paid for it already. I would be 6 months in March, and I feel like that’s too big of a belly. I haven’t sent out invitations because I was deciding to cancel on in off. I thought we could have pulled it off but me being in school, the baby, the wedding planning and work and so for has just been too stressful.

I’m not sure how you both missed this in the contract seeing as though it was only 2 points instead of 6. They ran it by you when they gave you the contract regardless of what was said it was on y’all to read what you signed. Changes to contracts happen. At this point I would just stick it out.

For what it’s worth, most of my friends who have had kids didn’t start showing at all until about 5 months with their first. I definitely understand it’s a lot happening at once, just wanted to reassure you it won’t be “too big” of a belly.

If you have a ballgown style or A line that would also hide a smaller baby bump if thats any level of reassurance. I'm so sorry for your situation!

My FHs cousins wife was pregnant when they got married. You could not tell with the dress she wore! It was so beautiful and looked like feathers all on the dress part, and it looked like an empire dress but very ball gown like. I’ll try to find a photo, but they were also pretty far along. They got pregnant and decided to get married before the baby came. I think you can do it too, don’t cancel it if everything is paid for.

My sister in law was almost 8 months pregnant on her wedding day. Her dress hid her belly so well and she looked fabulous. You can totally pull it off!

My sister found out she was 5 months pregnant like a week after her wedding. You couldn’t really tell it was a baby bump but she did wear a more form fitting dress.

Regardless of how you feel about it, you did sign it which states you agree to their terms. If you cancel, you have to go by the current contract and pay the entire remaining balance.

I would consult an attorney. Did you give them a credit card or account number? If so, I would cancel it immediately until this is sorted out. Fight this girlfriend, you have enough on your plate. Good luck!
