Canceling part of my Hair/Makeup Contract

Sonya, on April 8, 2015 at 1:57 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 8

My contract can be cancelled 30 days or changed prior to my wedding. I've gone back and forth about canceling the hair. I'm not really sure about the hairstylist and I've decided to use my regular stylist. The difference was that my stylist could not come to me on the day of, but she is a darn good stylist and after having my trial with the other stylist I was unsure she could do a good job. But my dumb butt booked her anyway and ever since then I've been deliberating it. Now, I want to keep the makeup artist but cancel the hair service. They are from the same salon, so I kinda feel bad canceling the hair. How do I tell the lady I only want one of the services? Have you had to cancel a contract or change services? How did you handle?

Call them and nicely restate what you said above; you've decided to move in another direction for your hair but will be doing makeup. Make sure you confirm makeup and/or get a new contract that states makeup only.

Be brave. Don't feel bad. It's your day and your money.

I would just tell them that you decided to go with another stylist. And if you're super uncomfortable with that, say that you were gifted hair styling from someone and you're going to use their stylist.

But I still think you should just tell the truth :-)

I am sure it happens all the time. Just tell them the truth and I am sure they will understand.

They get cancellations all the time. I don't want to be too blunt here but...it's ok. The stylist will be fine with it. They don't want a client who is unhappy any more than you want to BE unhappy. So it's win-win.

I do think honesty is the best policy, but I would probably lie lol. I'd just say that a hairstylist friend offered to do my hair for free so i'll no longer need their hairstylist. I feel super awkward in those situations

Thanks guys. I really need to learn to put my Big Girl panties on...LOL! I'm going to call and explain that I went in a different direction. It's a little more honest without giving details.

I will have to probably have to do the same thing to my makeup artist and just be honest.

@Nashara I really have been deliberating this since January. I just was not sure with the stylist.
