Canceling a bridal appointment for the second time?

Tiffany, on November 10, 2018 at 10:18 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 8
Hi, just need a little reassurance/advice from anyone who’s been in my shoes. There’s a bridal shop about 45-60 minutes away from me, I’ve made an appointment a few weeks ago but couldn’t go because other things came up. I made an appointment for today at 2:30, and I’ve been sick lately, stomach issues, motion sickness, I made this appointment almost a week ago and I feel really bad canceling it again but I don’t think I can be in a car that long. Will the bridal salon be mad? My dream dress is at the salon and I just don’t think I can stomach it. Any tips, advice please?

If you haven’t given them 24 hours notice they may not allow you to make any more appointments without putting down a deposit to ensure you’re not wasting their time.

It’s not intentional, but it’s hard to get out there when I’m struggling to be in a car for less than ten minutes. How could I put down a deposit if it’s so far away? PayPal them money? I think that’s taking it too far when sometimes life happens.

While yes, sometimes life happens, typically consultants earn commission off sales as the majority of their income. If they’ve blocked out an appointment for you for a few hours from now, they likely can’t fill it at this point. You can’t expect a shop to repeatedly turn away other customers for you when you’ve cancelled multiple times.

I had to give my credit card when I booked an appt and they would charge it if I cancelled with less than 24 hours notice.

I’ve been to four bridal shops in my area and I’ve never had them ask for a card. I’ve never missed an appointment before, but I had to cancel because my mom couldn’t join me and I didn’t want to drive alone and now I’m sick, I’ll honestly try again in a few months.

I never said it was intentional. These people still have to make a living regardless of how you’re feeling that day. If you’re unsure why not call and ask rather than getting upset or irritated at me? You asked for opinions and I gave you mine.

I'd just be super-apologetic when you call and explain about being ill. They'll either be understanding of the unusual circumstance or they'll tell you if there will be any requirements for you to book in the future. My dentist understandably has a 24-hr cancellation policy, but when I woke up sick and called and told them why I needed to cancel at the last minute, they were very understanding and didn't charge me (of course, the last thing they wanted was for the dentist and hygienist to have their hands in my extra germ-filled mouth). If you're too sick to go, there isn't much you can do about that.

If you’re sick, no one wants to get sick too! Just calland be honest with them. Feel better soon!
