Canceled rsvp wording

Jaime, on September 26, 2017 at 8:20 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 2

So I am less that two weeks out. Just found out that 9 guests are not attending. Each has their own excuses and that's fine. They keep asking how much their plate cost is. I honestly think that that's private and would be tacky to tell them. What is done is done no need to cover the cost. I have been avoiding the question or have said it is not needed. They keep asking what the plate cost is. How should I respond? Again I am not expecting anything nor do I want it

Continue to reassure them that they don't have to worry about covering their plate and that everything has been taken care of already.

Some will probably try to reimburse you under the guise of a gift though so be prepared for that.

"I appreciate you extending the offer to pay for your plate. As a guest I would never expect you to pay for anything at my wedding whether you are able to attend or not. I appreciate the offer once again but I also understand sometimes life happens and things pop up where you can't attend. Hopefully we can get together sometime soon!"
