Can you wear youre wedding rings, if you’re a bridesmaid?

So I have no idea if this is a thing or not lol. I’m just curious. If you’re married and are in another wedding, like the bridal party, can you wear you’re wedding rings or should you take them off? Is there any etiquette saying not to wear them?

Yeah, I don't agree with that either. Every person has their own set of reasons to take it off and shouldn't be shamed for them. I've taken mine off at night and forgotten to put it on in the morning. Gone a couple days without wearing it because my fingers swelled in the heat. Taken it off so I didn't lose it when it got cold and I was afraid of it slipping off my finger.

But I wouldn't take mine off just because I'm in a wedding. Or ask my Matron of Honor to take hers off.

Also to the question in the comments "The question was more for is it ok to wear the engagement ring along with the band." Yes, it's totally okay to wear the engagement ring along with the band but it's your choice.

Yes, wear your wedding rings - there is not an etiquette rule that pertains to this.

Well that’s just not true at all. You can wear or not wear your ring as much as you want.

Ehhhh. That's a personal preference type deal.

My hubby wears his wedding band, but frequently takes it off if he's working outside or exercising or when extreme weather changes cause his fingers to swell. I'm sure he's forgotten to put it back on a time or two.

I don't even have a wedding band, and only an ering. One because I think a second ring is a waste of money and two because I can't wear them for work anyway. I have a silicone one, but I rarely remember to put it on when I'm getting ready.

Neither my hubby nor I lose a second of sleep if one or the other isn't wearing their ring. It's a trivial thing to be upset about and doesn't change the fact that we're married.

I would never take off my wedding band, engagement ring, or promise ring because I was in someone's wedding 🙄

Totally wear them. It is nice that you wanted to make sure there was no faux pas.

I mean...I take mine off all the time. As soon as I get home it goes in my ring box. It's not great for the wear and tear on a ring - especially if it's dainty or has stones in it- to wear it 24/7, but that is 100% your prerogative. This is true really for all jewelry- one of the worst things to do is wear it to bed because of the likelyhood of stretching something out, getting it caught on bedding or something similar is not small.

I worked in the NYC diamond district for years and a lot of the rings that came in for repair were because they were bent, cracked, missing stones etc because of the way people were wearing their rings-- especially if your ring is gold-- that's a really malleable metal.

I had a brand new bride come to me in tears right after her honeymoon. She wore her custom 2ct + pear shaped engagement ring and her matching custom wedding band in to the ocean and of course they slipped off. Rings were insured, thank goodness, but her original wedding band-- the one she said her vows in - was gone. I wound up making her a new set, identical to her old one, and I felt terrible for her but I couldn't believe she wore her rings into the ocean like that.

    Anyway-- sorry for the tangent.

OP-- your jewelry is yours to wear however you like. A married bridesmaid can/ should wear her rings while in a bridal party.

But not wearing a ring doesn't make you less married, so please take care of your beautiful rings ladies! Get them inspected often.

I am currently at work, not wearing my rings at all.. soooo I guess in your eyes that is a terrible thing. I often take my rings off. Actually, these days I find myself not really wearing them that much at all for a variety of reasons, but it is an individual choice to make. I also have friends who don't have rings period. So this is not a huge deal.

For the original question, this is bizarre and I have never heard of this nor would I have ever in a million years asked my recently engaged bridesmaid to take her ring off for my wedding.

Maybe OP was asking because in some cultures you don't even put people who are already married in the bridal party. Everyone has their customs. But I don't think there is anything wrong with wearing your ring or not wearing your ring as a bridesmaid. Totally up to the individual. Generally speaking I have forgotten to put my ring back on in the morning so many times, especially since I was not used to wearing any rings at all prior to getting engaged so it was such a foreign thing to me. I don't consider that a big deal.

I kind of have a similar question! I'm the MOH for my cousin's wedding this month but I recently got engaged. We haven't officially announced the engagement to my family because I feel kinda weird telling everyone when it's so close to my cousin's wedding. Should I not wear my engagement ring at her wedding? or no...haha.

You can absolutely still wear your engagement rings and wedding bands!! It's been a long time since bridesmaids were actual "maids"! Smiley winking

I even asked one of my bridesmaids to wear my engagement ring for me on her right hand during the ceremony because I wanted to take the ring off for the ceremony but also wanted to keep it nearby and safe! Smiley shame

If you haven't announced it to the family yet that's going to be there then I actually feel like no you shouldn't. That's just asking for the attention to be pulled on you and the fact that you're getting married next while it's supposed to be the happy couples day.

It's not that strange of a question, as traditionally bridesmaids are supposed to be unmarried girls/women, so traditionally bridesmaids wouldn't wear rings because they wouldn't have them.

The answer is you aren't expected to take off your wedding/engagement rings for any reason, although it is a good idea to take them off when exercising, bathing, swimming, cooking, cleaning or doing other household chores, and while sleeping because it will extend the life of your ring and reduce the change of your ring getting damaged or causing you injury. Many people never take off their rings, but every jeweler I've spoken to recommends against leaving your rings on all the time.

You may wear any personal jewelry, like wedding or engagement rings, sentimental pieces like special necklaces or bracelets, and have no requirement to wear bride's choice in jewelry, even if she buys it for you to wear, or to match others. The only thing that is out is statement pieces that are more formal and show than the bride is wearing, like multi-strands of gems. ( But if your engagement or other sentimental ring you always wear is 2-4 carats to bride's 1/2 carat, you may still wear yours. Just not a showier cocktail ring that is not your usual jewelry.) You may wear your own religious jewelry as well, whether or not it is of the religion of the ceremony.
Personal jewelry is like hair color and style, or tattoos. A bride may express a preference, and BM can follow it is not. It is not within the rights of brides or hostesses to change the basic appearance, body, hair, or always worn personal jewelry . Unless the is paying $300 or more an hour to models and actresses. It is rude to attempt to makeover friends or family members, beyond expecting them to be clean, and neatly groomed in the correct level of formality. And in the case of BM or GM, wearing the dress or suit chosen. But hair and jewelry and make up are personal choices .

Your answer is against usual etiquette, which allows any engagement ring, wedding ring, or sentimental item ( going steady? Mom's ring?) once you have it, whether or not it has ever been announced . Once you have it, it is yours to wear any time you wish.
