Can you rent a limo for an hour?

NotAllWhoWanderAreLost, on July 21, 2015 at 12:55 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 17

Has anyone rented a limo just for an hour?

We rented buses to get the guys and guests to/from the venue. But, for the girls we are all going over earlier and there are less than 10 of us going over. We had considered taking two cars over and then having my brother drive one of them back and then hoping on the later bus with the guys and then coming over again. But with the photography timeline we have set up that won't work.

I have been contacting limos and drivers, but so far I have not had much luck. I have considered just paying to uber us over, but with our dresses and stuff I think we would have to get 3 which seems a little bit excessive.

Has anyone just gotten a limo for an hour before?

Most actual limos have a minimum to meet. What does your wedding day timeline look like?

I haven't yet, but I did try searching for this and it was hard to find. I was looking for basically a getaway car for FH and me. I found out the key words you are looking for is point-to-point transportation service. Some limo companies do offer it, you just have to search really hard.

Most limo companies require at least three hours. We had a hummer bring the guys to the venue only used it for that transport but still had to pay for three hours.

Most around here have a minimum of 3.

Oh, great thanks Jacqui I will try searching that!

Maltese - my time line for us girls is pretty much this:

    -Leave Hotel - 7:30-7:45am

    -Get to Venue - 8:00-8:15am

    -Breakfast ready - 8:00am

    -Makeup/Hair People Arive - 8:15-8:30am

    -Start Hair/Makeup - 8:30am

    -Photographer Arrives - 10:30-10:45am

    -Lunch 11:00am

    -Get Dressed 11:30am

    -Photos of Girls/Immediate Family/Bridal Portraits - 12:00-1:30pm

Then the photographer will do the guys, then we will take some with the whole bridal party minus FH and I. The guys get to the venue at 1pm for lunch and then take pictures/get ready from ~1:30-3:00pm. And then 3:30 guests start arriving , and its a 4:00pm ceremony.

This is maybe the biggest reason we didn't get transportation. We would have needed it for two hours *tops*, once at the beginning and once at the end. Unfortunately, we would have paid for 6 hours of service because each run would have required 3 hours of service.

Yea, it was all going to work out for us until I added a bridesmaid and my brother to help with things, before that we were all just going to fit in one car to come over.

For the guys we rented buses and we got them from 2 different companies so we did a morning one and then one doing night shifts to minimize the number of hours we needed.

But now I have to figure out how all of us girls are getting over there. Smiley sad

Assuming your ceremony/reception are at the same place, I don't see where you would need a limo? Just have everyone meet at the venue at 8am for breakfast and start getting ready

We don't "need" a limo, but everyone in the bridal party is from out of town and they are all staying at the hotel. And since we are providing transportation back, it would be nice to all have transportation there so that no one has to worry about driving and they can all drink and have a good time.

Does that hotel have a shuttle you can reserve? That was the biggest factor in getting ours...for $250 the shuttle took guests from the hotel to the reception and back at the end of the night...that may be an option. Also ask the limo companies if they have a van rather than a limo, those would be more likely to be rented by the hour than the stretches and limo buses.

    And there's always Uber

I called every car service company in the area and they all had at least a 3 hour minimum. :/

Sighz, I found some point to point transportation but it was still $240 one way, it is looking like we are going to have to take an uber or lyft to get there. Smiley sad

I know its not a big deal, but I was thinking it would be fun to all ride together.

Everywhere around here has a 4 hour minimum. Our ceremony and reception are at the same venue so we would only need the limo to actually get there...we decided to save the money and just drive ourselves.

Would it be less expensive to rent a large car or van for the day?

Look at budget or uhaul for full size passenger vans to rent for the day...they seat about 12 people

Some companies don't have minimums, but I guess it depends on where you live. I was able to get a limo for 2 hours.

I totally understand the wanting to be together, everyone is from out of town for my wedding too. My point Of view is. If you can afford it, do it! You only get these memories once and you want to actually enjoy the day instead of stressing about how you are getting places. If you can't afford it, look into a school bus or something so you can still be together.
