Can you add sleeves or a Corset to any gown? 1

I think I found a dress I love! But it has Lace straps not sleeves. I want Sheer with a little lace sleeves. Or even just a slightly longer Cap sleeve. Cause I'm self conscious about my arms. Can a seamstress do that??? And I also want a lace up back cause I am busty girl. The dress has a sheer lace button back. But I really need a lace up. Would under garments help??? Or do I need to reconsider the dress I've fallen for. . .since I want so many alterations?? What would you ladies do?

Update: I added a photo so you guys can see what I am working with.

Sleeves are pretty doable. I’m not sure about the corset. Do you have a picture?

Yeah, a lot depends on the original construction of the dress. I've heard of a lot of dress styles being altered to add a corset back, or to add sleeves. It just depends on what cut and style the dress was to begin with.

Sometimes, though, when you want a lot of alterations, that ends up costing as much if not more than the price of the dress. Talk to a seamstress, or a few of them. They should be able to tell you if what you want is possible, and also the cost.

The dress is gorgeous, but I think you should keep looking for "the one." Is this you in the picture? Have you tried on the dress? I can see the sleeves being altered, but you won't be able to add undergarments or a corset.

No one of the review pictures of the gown from one of the stores that carry it. I was worried about not having under garments. Smiley cry Any one know any designers that make a dress that might be similar but a covered or lace up back?

I think if you try to add sleeves and a corset to this dress...you're going to change the look of it so much you would have been better off just spending the money on a different dress. I would keep looking. For the amount of money it will take to do the alterations you're talking about (basically reconstructing a dress....) you could probably get a dress that has everything you're talking about.

I wouldn't add a corset to this. Keep shopping!! There are so many dresses out there. Have you tried on any in the store?

I don't think a corset will work in that dress. You should be able to have a bra built in to your dress. I'm very busty and have a dress where the back is everything so I will need to do this as well

I didn't think of a Bra being built in it. I have also considered asking for a higher back or asking to cover it all in lace, so not all of the back is exposed (sheer) and I am able to put on undergarments as I like. But a built in bra sounds lovely. `Smiley smile

If I were you, I'd print this picture, go to a bridal salon, show them your inspiration, and try on dresses. You might actually find out that this style isn't what you go with after all, or you might love it and find something similar.

You'd have to get them to build an entire structure into that dress to support a corset closure. It won't work with the illusion back. You could, however, add sleeves. And good dresses have bust support built in. You should definitely try a dress on to check the fit and support before buying one. But as others have said, looking for one with more coverage already in the back is probably what you need. (FWIW, a corset closure doesn't guarantee support, either, you want to look for a dress that has a corselette built into it.)

I have I like the Corset built it cause it felt my secure on the few ive tried. But they didnt have the look i wanted. TOO poofy on the bottom or i hated beading. This one i didnt try on the stores i went to dont have a sample of anything similar in my size. (i am Size 16) so i am curvy and the ones the have have the coverage i want but defintely are for a more mature bride than me. This is the kind of back I was looking at in the store in case they couldnt do a corset, the store i went tho said this would be more reasonable if i did alterations on the gown i like.
