Can some give feedback on my vows?

Morgan, on October 7, 2020 at 1:22 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 6
Specifically struggling with how to end them.

Shane,

Each of these past 8 years with you have been better than the last. We’ve grown from teenagers to young adults together, learning, and loving along the way. You’ve shown me love, compassion, integrity, and so much more. You’ve taught me a lot, including how football works, and more about Ireland’s history than I’ll ever want or need to know. We’ve been through some great times and some rough ones, and we’ve always supported each other through. As we continue to grow our lives together as husband and wife, I promise to always enjoy and celebrate the good times with you, and love and support you through the rough ones. I promise to never turn down a trip to Costco, and to always say I love you and wish you a good day when you leave for work. I promise to forgive your mistakes, like that time you nearly backed over me in the driveway, and to celebrate your successes. I promise to work together to problem solve obstacles, such as a pandemic canceling our wedding, and to celebrate our solutions, like getting married in the backyard. I promise to be your best friend, your #1 supporter, and to love you endlessly. I love you.

I think this looks nice. Not too long which is great and it speaks from the heart. I really like it and I think your ending is fine. Smiley smile

These are so beautiful Morgan!! I think they're the perfect length and really speak from the heart! 🥰

I think you could keep your vows exactly as is! Or you could try moving this first vow: "I promise to always enjoy and celebrate the good times with you, and love and support you through the rough ones" to the end, right after "like getting married in the backyard". See how that sounds!

Thank you so much!! Honestly I hate being emotional in front of people and was just gonna use the traditional vows but my grandmom convinced me not to so I gave it a try today.

I think these are great! I think the length is just right and your ending is pretty sound. It sounds like you are worried about being too emotional though - if it helps, you and your FH could write each other letters to read before the ceremony instead of reciting vows. We opted to do this because I didn't want to say all the mushy stuff in front of other people and we did traditional vows with our pastor. But I think these are great as they are Smiley smile
