Can my ring bearer also be my flower boy?

rzinn18, on February 16, 2017 at 2:00 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 5

My nephew is the only little kid in both of our families, but I really want to include him in our wedding! Any ideas of how I could pull off having him be the ring bearer and also the flower boy? Would it be better just to not have a flower girl/boy at all, and just have him be the ring bearer? He will be about 3.5 at the time, and I want it to be fun for him! Also, we are planning on not doing a big wedding party, just my sister and FH's brother, and FH and I are walking down the aisle together, so it's already not a traditional procession.

You definitely don't have to have a flower girl. if you want to make it fun and it totally doesn't clash with your theme, you could even call him "ring security". get him some little sunglasses and a child-size briefcase instead of a pillow. he can look like a little spy/secret agent. pinterest probably has a bunch of other fun ideas, but don't feel like you have to have a FG or fill that role in any way. we are opting just to have a RB - FH's nephew. We really didn't have any little girl's to have as a FG so we just aren't having one, no biggie Smiley smile

I wouldn't try to make him do both rings and flowers. Do either of you have a grandma who could sprinkle flower petals? Granny flower girls are adorable.

As pp's said, a flower person is not necessary! Flower grandma sounds interesting!

I would ask him which he prefers. Neither role is necessary, so he might as well do whichever sounds like more fun to him.

Thanks everyone! I definitely think I should ask him and see what he would like to do, because I really just want him to have fun! And if he wants to be the RB, I love the idea of asking a grandmother or two to be FGs! That would be so cute and personal!
