Can my groom wear a white shirt and khaki vest if I'm wearing an ivory dress?

T, on February 2, 2015 at 1:09 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 5

We'll be getting married on the beach in late September. Bride (myself) will be wearing an ivory dress, bridesmaids in light petal pink & champagne colored dresses. My fiance and I talked about the idea of having the Groomsmen to wear a solid white shirt, khaki dress pants, navy blue suspenders, & navy blue ties. The Groom wants to wear solid white shirt, khaki vest/dress pants, & navy blue tie....I'm pretty sure since they'll be wearing a combo of khaki/white, my ivory dress will fall between the two colors and it will look okay, but appreciate any input! (I've gotten a lot of responses in-person saying, "It's your wedding; you can do whatever you want!" I know that I'm able to do whatever I want, but just looking for input to see what other people think looks best.) Smiley smile

Why don't you have them wear an ivory shirt? I always think having white next to ivory makes the difference obvious, but if your'e both in ivory you won't be able to tell Smiley smile

Could definitely do that! Just a little nervous because I've read a few stories where the ivory shirts turn out way too yellow or don't really match the dress. I guess once I have my dress, I could take it in to get it matched, but slightly nervous I won't have my dress back with enough time for the guys to order the shirts...

I actually think it would be ok, mostly because the pants aren't white.

I have an ivory dress and we went to Mens Warehouse to look at ivory shirts. They were entirely too yellow. I requested a swatch of my dress color/fabric from the dress store and compared it to the shirts - entirely too yellow. The dress shop recommended doing off white. They said white tends to be too bright and ivory is to yellow, but an off white seems to be softer and a similar tone.

I think thats a great idea, since getting a shirt takes one day! Just wait until your dress comes in, and then match it. You can always purchase the white, off-white, and ivory, and return the two that don't work.
