Can mother of bride dress wear white?

Jessica, on May 6, 2018 at 5:07 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 44
My mom loves this dress and is thinking of wearing it to my wedding! I don’t have a problem with it and I want her to look and feel beautiful! My dress is ivory and is a ball gown. Any thoughts?

Ultimately it's your call, and IMO it really doesn't look all that white or even ivory. I think it would be fine.

As long as you're okay with it, it's totally fine. It's a beautiful dress and doesn't even look white at first glance with the silver designs

I think it’s totally fine and you seem okay with it as well. Tell her to go for it.

I think it's always up to you and her! It's a beautiful dress.. and if both of you love it then I think it's perfect! My mom found a dress she loved, but was hesitant to get it because it was going to be the color of my BM dresses. I told her to get it because I knew she wanted it. I ended up finding something else for my BM (because it was cheaper for them) anyway!

I think that overlay makes it harder to tell it’s a white dress. I’ve seen MOBs in shades of white before. If you’re ok with it, I’d say it’s fine! That’s a pretty dress.

I don’t even think it looks white, it looks more grey to me. My mom liked a black and white dress, but said she shouldn’t wear it because you’re “not supposed to”. I told her to wear whatever she wanted I didn’t care as long as she liked it.

I think if you don’t mind it’s fine! The top of my moms dress is white and I don’t care! Also my bff wore blush for her wedding and her mother wore another shade of blush Smiley smile

The dress is described as pearl, so it is in the grey/white family. Even though it may not be a problem for you or your Mom, I think it depends on how white it is in person. There are people who would side eye the MOB wearing white or anything close to it.

That would have to be your call. Personally I wouldn’t be ok with it. However this is 100 percent my own opinion. If you are cool with it then go for it. Some people do bridesmaids in ivory.

It definitely doesn't look bridal, so I don't think it would take away from you. It's also very stunning so she would feel gorgeous in it! I think if you are comfortable with the color, I don't see it as a problem.

I’m here. I would be upset if a family member on either side showed up in this. I was at a wedding last night and someone showed up in a solid white dress. People were talking...

if anything it has no reflection on you, the bride.

Oooh, that’s a Tadashi Shoji gown. I know because I wore one for my wedding. To me, that looks silver. It’s not a ball gown. I think it’s beautiful and seems totally appropriate to me.

It aeems Em’s you have some reservations about it, or you wouldn’t have posted about it. Have you seen it in person? My gown was pale pink with a gold overlay. In picturres on their website, it looked white with gold but looked very different in person (which I was happy about). It really looked like a gold gown do I believe this will look like a grey/silver gown in person.

It doesn't look like a ball gown and doesn't look bridal. Looks like it would be a great mob dress

Although Dillards lists it under wedding dresses and bridal gowns.
