Can i wear shape-wear with this?

Rabreena, on November 23, 2020 at 10:21 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 15

The sides of my dress are illusion and I am wondering is there any type of shape-wear that I can wear to help give me a "better shape/look"?

I have not had alterations done or scheduled yet, will be doing so in late April or May next year in the hopes that maybe I could lose a couple pounds.

This first picture shows the sides of the dress and the last two are of me in the dress.

I think that some of the shapermint "underwear" like shapewear would be fine to wear under this. BTW pretty dress!

I agree with Yasmine. You could probably get away with nude Shapeware panties or shorts; but anything above the waist is likely going to show. Looking at your picture was like a trip down memory lane- the black dress displayed is the dress I almost purchased!

    Thank you!!

Another question I have is if I do the "underwear" type shapewear, do you think that would cause any issues for me if I have to go to the bathroom that night?
Also, I know I can't do the highrise cut for shapewear, should I do a mid-rise or low (to where it's more like actual underwear)?

I've been stressing over this a bit and trying to figure it out before it comes time to alterations.

I recommend you definitely try it and see what it looks like before your big day.

Okay, thanks for the opinion and help!

I've actually had a very difficult time trying to find shapewear like those, because anytime I do they are out of stock.

    Oh wow that's cool!
When I was there shopping that day I couldn't help but to keep looking at that dress even though I am not one to wear a black wedding dress. It was quite a unique and beautiful dress!

No it won't cause any problems at all, I wore the high shorts for my minimony and it didn't affect me going to the bathroom and all and surprisingly they were actually comfortable. I can't see where the slit is with you in the dress because of your arm placement but from the first picture I assume that the mid and high rise would show? So I would say get the normal underwear shapewear

I would suggest high shorts try spanx they are amazing and I would try them on with the dress. I would suggest having cups sewen in your dress. for support without the look of a bra

I haven't tried high rise shorts/underwear with my dress yet but where the slits are on the sides I know it would show unfortunately.

Thanks, I will check into those!

I will have be having the seamstress remove the current cups then add ones that fit and support better.

All shapewear would show out the side slits. If you cannot go bare at the slit, ask your seamstrass to put a modesty panel on both sides. She will buy a skin color ( for you) mesh fabric, like pantyhose or a little heavier, so neither skin nor shapewear or slip shows through the slit. Easy. But give her a little notice so she can get the material before your appointment.

Thank you, that might be an option to try.
I feel I should make an appointment with her to discuss what option(s) would be best for what I am wanting to do.
