Stephanie, on August 14, 2020 at 12:01 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 1 20
Looking to just see what some of you think. I want honesty. Im 49 wear a size 16 jeans and xl shirt. I will lose 20lbs by the time i wear my dress. will i look ok?

Im curvy but have come to accept it over time after 4 children. My oldest daughter is 21 she seems unsure about the dress that is very low back and sheer. Im not sure if she thinks im to old or maybe to curvy .i want something that is sexy and romantic for beach wedding. The first and last photo same dress...is the back to low and sheer??

The first dress is 1200.00Can i get some feed back before i try them on 1

You will look beautiful in whatever dress you choose. Age and body shape don’t matter one bit.

I think you will look fine, obviously I don't know what your body looks like but it doesn't matter that you are a size 16 at all!

With wedding dresses it's all about how it feels on - you need to feel beautiful and comfortable. Try the dresses on - see how you feel. Your daughter is looking at you as her mom, not as a bride - but you're a bride and you should feel confident and beautiful in your dress.

Thank you . I plan to lose 10 to 20 lbs but was worried I'm to big for the dress. The one is sheer toward the butt but i think he will like that. He is a ass man lol 😆

If it’s altered to fit you well and you have the right foundation garments, I say go for it! I do have to say that when I saw that you’re having a beach wedding, I did feel like the (amazing!) bottoms of those dresses might pick up an awful lot of sand though - I can imagine the dress getting pounds and pounds heavier as you walk down the aisle and take photos. It could probably be fairly easily sorted with an aisle runner but might need to be considered!

All that matters is that you love it and love how it looks on you. Are you going dress shopping soon? I’d love to see the pictures when you do!! But like others have said I don’t feel like age matters a bit. And size, not so much either. It all comes down to your comfort level.

I agree with others that whatever dress you love and feel beautiful in will be the right dress. However, I think it's helpful to be aware that each dress style and the materials used potentially raise issues and concerns with any dress. My daughter is a thin-framed 36DD and nearly 6' tall. Even with her figure, it was tough (and expensive) to get enough support in the bodice of her dress -- which had a low back and very thin straps, AND a lot of built-in structure. Although we certainly tried every option available, we couldn't find a single strapless bra, bustier, stick-on, etc. that would give her the support she wanted/needed in the chest and not show. We ended up spending about $450 on alterations for a $1200 dress to get the dress tight enough to hold her chest securely exactly where she wanted it.... She's tall enough that her dress didn't need to be hemmed, but if she'd needed it hemmed, the 5-6 layer skirt with a lot of lace embellishment on the top layer would be likely been at least a few hundred dollars.... If cost is at all a concern, a bride can potentially save a lot by thinking through the implications of various stylist choices. For someone with a larger chest, supportive undergarments are going to be a lot easier to find with wider shoulder straps and a higher back. Very petite? A dress with less embellishment at the bottom of the skirt is going to be a lot less expensive to shorten. After shopping with daughter and working through the alterations process with her (and paying for both...), I have a lot more appreciation for the impact different dress styles/features potentially have on alterations costs. Good luck!

I totally understand that feeling. I gained some weight when I had my son, and some areas of my body (namely my tummy) are just not the same...DH tells me good things about my body all the time. But I guess we are our own worst critics.

(23 year old's perspective) I think the only way to really know is to try on the dress. If you try it and feel confident and beautiful everyone else will also see that shine! If you feel uncomfortable it will show. Potentially, if you never try this one on it may stick in your mind because you won't have clarity of your vision. Advice: make sure it isn't too heavy for walking around on the beach, and make sure you don't have to pull it back up every 10 minutes due to being strapless.
If you want to wear this dress, rock it! You'll be stunning.

Well i went to dress shop and i was disappointed they were small in size as in a size 10 for wedding dress which would never go on since i wear a 16 on regular clothing.
I was in love with the dress we put it up to me so i can see it on. It was a toss up between 2 dresses. The one i loved was literally everything i wanted.... it has a blush color to it, fitted, sparked full skirt with ruffles, strapless. It was more then what i wanted to spend. FH said get it i will give you the extra 300.00. The other dress was similar... same style however skirt wasnt as full and had no sparkle in it, wasnt the same color. Here is what i gotCan i get some feed back before i try them on 5

Wow this dress is beautiful!! That's awesome you found one. Dress shopping can be complicated and they really need to start carrying bigger try on sizes for modern women. Frankly it shocks me. But anyways.. the one you chose is amazing I hope you love it! It looks more elegant than the first but is definitely still sexy and might hold up better at a beach ceremony. You may be able to add a petticoat underneath for more volume if you want.
