Can I afford a wedding planner?

Okay, here's the thing, I am a full time graduate student, very bogged down in school work and I feel like something is going to suffer. I'm either going to end up with a poorly planned, thrown together wedding, or less than ideal grades. Question is, with a budget of 12-15k, venue at 4200, plus...

Okay, here's the thing, I am a full time graduate student, very bogged down in school work and I feel like something is going to suffer. I'm either going to end up with a poorly planned, thrown together wedding, or less than ideal grades. Question is, with a budget of 12-15k, venue at 4200, plus catering/rentals etc, can I even afford someone to help me?

    I think a planner for your whole day is unnecessary. i think you could definitely benefit from a DOC. (i think everyone could. i'm so glad our venue included the services of one. life. saver.) they can help you put together a whole timeline for the day and take over execution so you can truly just enjoy your day and not worry about a thing.

    What I did was post on Thumbtack what I wanted/needed. I got a few responses and one that caught my eye. She has a smaller portfolio because she is newer to the business on her own, but worked under someone prior. I got a great deal on a DOC because of it. And she has been spot-on in helping me with a few things. Post on Thumbtack and trust your instincts. To me, the extra cash out of pocket is worth having things and problems relayed to someone else on our big day Smiley smile
