This is something you need to check with your local county clerk. Contact them, and get information and such regarding this. If she's qualified for your state/town, then yes it's legal. Each area has different requirements and legalities.

This is usually a vendor that is preferable to being a pro, as they have the experience and can ensure it's all done properly and legally.

That is a question for your county clerk. They may allow her to marry you but it may not be legal.

It depends on where you live.

My dad is the one marrying us. He has performed a few weddings for family friends already and he is a great public speaker so I'm not worried. He did have to renew his certification (sorry don't know if its a license or what) this year and he has already registered for our county.

It will be pretty late to find a replacement in time if you wait until you get your license. As PP's have said, you should call your county clerk. This can vary a lot based on where you live. Your mom should also know where she is able to perform ceremonies if she is licensed....

True. It all depends when you get your marriage license. Calling would be great to.

Hi Lienna! It totally depends! Is she an ordained pastor, or legal officiant? She should know where she's qualified to perform marriages, and definitely check the rules in the county where you are getting married!

In my state the marriage license is only good for 60 days.. Why would you want to scramble that close to the wedding day in the event it wouldn't be legal? Why not make a phone call to the county clerk Monday morning and ask the question a few months ahead of time, so there's time to have a back up plan or find other arrangements....

You wouldn't want to scramble that close to the wedding. I heard some was more dates but I could be wrong. All I know right now is making a phone call would be great too. So, I don't need people being harsh of what I wrote. Its people opinion and I admited I honestly didn't think it thru. Specially when I have been tired and stress.

Lienna, I hope you find the answer ur looking for. Congratulation
