Can a sequin and lace dress be let out??

Jan87, on April 16, 2014 at 10:45 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 8

This may be a silly question but I am curious, does anyone know if a sequin and lace dress can be let out?? Can a seamstress put back on sequins and work some magic after letting a dress out. I know dresses are different and it's a case by case thing but generally speaking can this be done??

Im sure there are exceptions on where/how the seams are, but... its a case by case thing lol. Are you having trouble with your dress??

My dress is a little too small. It doesn't zip all the way and there are buttons too. I'm trying to lose weight but am scared the dress won't fit. Not sure if I should take action now or try and lose weight and wait to see what alterations tells me. :s my appointment is in mid June.

If they can, the alterations are probably going to be crazy expensive.

@Jan honestly it might be impossible if the sequins are all threaded together (for obvious reasons) and at the very least expensive. Im sure there are other options like adding a panel but it might change the overall look. As Nancy said, have you tried a spanx? you would think it would add a layer but they actually shrink everything down!

If I were you I'd take the dress to the seamstress now and not wait til June. See what she says, and that way if it's impossible to let it out, you still have time to get your butt in gear Smiley smile

It will probably cost you more - just because they will have to hand sew on the sequins. It can be done Smiley smile just be prepared for the expense

I would talk to a seamstress and SERIOUSLY start trying to lose weight.

Drink only water, eat clean, work out like a crazy person. That's going to be your best bet.
