Campground wedding?

6-22-19 Mrs.williams, on June 5, 2017 at 8:38 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 20

We are thinking about having a wedding at a campground in wisconsin that had a pavillion area that will accommodate 200 people. Any suggestions on a great place would be awesome! Also any advice on having it at a rv campground would be amazing as well. What kind of dress would i begin to look for lol

200 people gives me anxiety just thinking about it. however, if you properly host. I guess location is fine.

You can wear whatever kind of dress you wish- it's your day. if I were you I would start looking into caters around you and start getting prices for them..

we got a quote for catering (80 people) just food and alcohol was going to cost us 8K. not our venue, nothing just that.

we chose to go with a venue that included a lot more. weigh out your options.

I have no suggestions for your location, but I wanted to say I think a campground wedding can be lovely! A friend of mine got married at a campground and I LOVE her photos! (Not my photo.) Wear whatever kind of dress you'd like, it doesn't have to be casual just because it's a campground.

Regarding your dress, you could do whichever dress silhouette fits your body type best. I wouldn't do a long train or veil though. All that fabric will drag dirt, leaves, etc as you walk.

I'm not a fan of campgrounds in general, nevermind as a wedding venue so I'll leave that part alone. What I'd like to suggest is find out in advance in the campground will charge your guests a day pass visitors. If so make sure you cover that as an expense. I have a cousin that holds her 2 children's birthday parties at the campground they're seasonal at. They're also having their wedding there this Oct. I get annoyed with it because it's a $5 fee per person as a day guest. I have 4 children, so just to get in to the party/ wedding I have to pay $30 (2 adults 4 kids). Then on top of that you bring a gift or for the wedding card w/cash. I don't think that's fair to do to your guests.

The camp office should be able to let you know what the fees are and how to go about paying the day pass fees.

We really love the look of kettle moraine ranch for the reception but not sure if they have camping there as well for everyone and if theres an extra fee. I think you only need a pass if its a state park. But we will be paying for whoever wants to stay.

I inquired to only one campground for a venue so this may not be the norm but it was really pretty with a cute little white church on the property, however no alcohol was allowed. So I'd be sure to ask if they allow alcohol.

You need to make alternate arrangements in case if inclement weather.

Any dress you'd like to wear is fine.

Yes, we've serviced them. Both of us refused to enter the bathroom cabin because it was home base to multiple nests of rather large, aggressive stinging insects. After that, there were plenty of ants, spiders, and flies. Lastly, a very thorough pre-clean of the venue is an absolute necessity.

Yes, it's done, but I'd cut that guest list in half to avoid hosting a summer camp wedding.

I would definitely do it at Kettle Moraine Ranch! They have literally everything you need right there. Catering, Bar, Linens, etc. You could do your wedding there or in one of the parks nearby, (seating might be a pain but it'd be pretty). I wanted to do a private family only ceremony at one of the trails near there with the tall pines but FH shot that down.

I think it's a know your crowd kinda thing. We've catered and officiated at 'rustique' locations.

Not my personal fave, but it might be yours. I wouldn't expect it to be a real budget saver though...

You have 200 people and a campground. What type of sanitary conditions are there for people?

Someone I know got married at a Girl Guide camp. It was fabulous. The couple got married in the chapel and we ate in the mess hall. They had a wonderful caterer and everyone had a great time. The bridal party and groomsmen used some of the cabins to get ready but no one stayed on site. This can work with the right facility.

I belong to a chapter of trail runners, and we get together for large events several times per year. We usually find a venue much like you're talking about, with indoor plumbing, some showers, full kitchens/ places for catering to set up and put their equipment. Power sources. We stay out there the entire weekend, and other than sleeping in a tent, I don't feel like I'm roughing it. I pay money to go to those, because it costs a lot for venue, food, alcohol, maintenance and supplies, etc. But if the girl wants to have a campout wedding, and her family and friends are down for it, go ahead. I'd go!! It will not be cheap. It just won't. But I can ask my resources about amounts when you get ready to calculate beer and other alcohol consumption. DO NOT SELF CATER. Smiley smile

OP I have been to a wedding at KM Ranch! It was ok. Bathroom situation wasn't great, food was sub-par and the bugs were terrible. However, when you go to a wedding at a location like that you need to prepare yourself for those things. The music was good and the couple was happy so it was fun in the end.

Have you checked out the Concord House? It's not a campground but I've been to a reception there and it was great!
