Camouflage rehearsal dinner

Kayleysue, on January 16, 2017 at 9:17 AM Posted in Planning 0 24

There will be zero camouflage at the wedding. However, I wanted his favorite things to be inculded some how. So I thought that rehearsal dinner should be all about him. We have gotten most things figured out such as center pieces and cake. What im struggling with is an accent color. Orange seems too much. The green and brown seem too dull. So i was thinking a royal blue? Il attach a pictures of all color combos. What do you ladies think? I do not want it to look a birthday party or baby shower. So its fine line to be on.

Our centerpieces are similar to these but, no ribbon and small lanterns in black.

I originally had a camo trimmed cake for my reception but we changed our minds and will not have any camo at our reception what so ever. There will be a little on my dress and bouquet but that's it. (just because I fell in love with the dress and cannot pass it up). But as someone who likes the camo country look, I like it! I'm more orange (as light orange/brown is our colors) but if blue works for your colors I'd say go for it! And heads up.. Camo posts does not go well on this site.

I like the first picture--the woods centerpiece is very pretty. Why not make it more of a woods theme than camo? You could add camo napkins and a few balloons to tie it together and then the pops of orange for color. The royal blue is a pretty color but looks a little odd with the camo.

Are his favorite things camo or just an outdoors woods vibe? I like the first centerpiece the best. I don't think I need to explain that many people find camo a bit tacky. I know this is different in different circles though. I would go with a woods theme over a camo theme rehearsal. You can go with orange, just not bright "don't shoot me" orange. Maybe like a fall burnt orange.

Birthday party is what im scared of. Im truly tempted to just go with white.

Also, no camouflage on our wedding day.

We have a lot of wilderness elements. So i could that way as well.

This seems like way too much planning to put into a rehearsal dinner IMHO

I agree with OliviaP. The orange table pic just loaded for me, the blue and orange might clash a little too much.. If you want the blue plates, maybe white table covers? Or white camo plates with the orange?

It does kinda seem like a birthday party theme, to be honest. Have you considered maybe just getting him a groom's cake with camo colors?

How would you feel about just doing a camouflage cake and the rustic centerpieces you put above? I think everything else could just be in neutral colors. You could add more rustic touches (i.e. lace, twine, wood, etc.) to get more of a country feel, but without it looking too themed.

I think if you *must* do camo, maybe keep the white idea and the centerpiece with branches and do an accent with the napkin like in this picture? I think it would look ok with the long tables as well. For the rehearsal.

The cake is camouflaged for the rehearsal.

Right, now we haven't actually brought any camo besides duck blinds fabric for the dinner and cake table. The center pieces are very woodland and duck fowl.

I could easily not do any color and just do white, with camouflage napkins.

There is a lot more planning in this dinner than i originally thought. But, the wedding is so unlike him in colors and over all theme. We wanted something to showcase him.

We are doing duck calls in the flowers for the men on the wedding day.

That is great advice @Lmac. I was getting lost in camouflage. Its not my thing and honestly didnt know how to make it not seem like a birthday or shower.

Thank you again for all your helpful advice. I truly needed the extra help.

Great advice here, just wanted to add:

DH loves hunting and fishing. So we just did an outdoor themed rehearsal dinner with cattails as centerpieces, fishing nets over the black tablecloths, duck calls, old fishing baskets, etc. He was surprised with a groom's cake of a yeti cooler with a fish on top...and I also had cookies made with fish, his team's logo, and black labs. You can do "country" but still be classy. I've attached some pics!
